For one point, please identify this car, the coachbuilder ( I don't know ) and the year :

Wendax

The grille bears a strong resemblance to the 1936 GM styling. Any relations to a - let's say - Chevrolet?

Hotchkiss 20CV c.1938?
I don't know the coachbuilder at the moment.

João

QuoteHotchkiss 20CV c.1938?

Not a Hotchkiss,but it's based on a French car.

Me neither  :-\

Coachwork looks very similar to the Voisin C30 of 1937 bodied by Dubos

I'm really surprised to see a 1930's Berliet with wire wheels. Is it based on a 11 CV Dauphine from 1936? Or is the base car older than the body?

João

 ;D

Yes...it's a re-bodied Berliet from 1923!!

Wendax

... with a Danish body. The model is probably a 18 HP.

Wendax

It was rebodied in 1938 after the original body was destroyed by a fire.

João

That's amazing! (Not the fire)

Fantastic automobile in my opinion.

At least one internet source indicates this car has a Ford V8 under the hood.

pnegyesi

Yes, it has a Ford V8 under the hood. According to the museum, this Berliet was bought in 1923 by a Danish engineer, Hermann Wanhö. It was a modern car with four-wheel brakes, oil gauge etc.
The building where it was stored burnt down in 1924. It was restored, but it did not receive an engine.

In 1935 a Ford V8 was installed. Then a company bought it and then it was bought by Sofus Larssen who handed it over to this Swedish museum in 1938.
Unfortunately they don't know the coachbuilder.

João

Thank you pnegyesi!

As we don't know the coachbuilder, does this puzzle float in limbo?

João

Yes, I'm afraid so.  :-\

I believe I found it, last May, and forgot it was an old puzzle.
