Anyone recognize this bad boy? If you do, why are you holding back!? Tell me! Come on!
-
Well this might do a bit better in the experts?
-
Guess not, let's let the pros have a go!
-
American?
-
American?
Nope.
-
British?
-
Looks like a runner-up in the World's Worst Countach Copies Championship!
-
British?
Not British either.
Looks like a runner-up in the World's Worst Countach Copies Championship!
There's definitely some Countach influence in here!
-
European?
-
European?
I don't believe so.
Full disclosure - I only have a single point of source with no manufacturer history so I'm going off the relatively little information I have.
-
Down under?
-
Down under?
I believe so.
-
Australia or New Zealand ?
-
Australia or New Zealand ?
They are typically the ones referred to as down under, yes. ;)
-
From New Zealand?
-
From New Zealand?
Not that one. ;D
-
So... Australian.
Did this company made any other models than this one?
-

That's my source, yes.
As above, I'm going at this without manufacturer history so I'm unsure if they did.
-
An early product of DMS Motorsport?
-
Perhaps by Westcon Performance?
-
An early product of DMS Motorsport?
Nope.
Perhaps by Westcon Performance?
Neither.
-
Made in 90s?
-
Made in 90s?
No.
-
Made between 1980 and 1985 ?
-
Made between 1980 and 1985 ?
It may have been, but the source is not.

I believe this could be a DRB Sabre.
-
I believe this could be a DRB Sabre.
I would certainly grant you that this uses the Sabre as a base, but I have (from the word of a sales ad, I know...) a different name and the rather distinct convertible plus other exterior modifications which I feel could still see as being a separate puzzle point? I can hold the puzzle for you for this further name if you like. Alternatively if there's an opinion that this should be withdrawn I'm happy to have it merged with the other completed DRB Sabre puzzle.
I also haven't got the original photo available until my computer is rebuilt so I cannot give further information the sales ad provided unfortunately, but from memory I do recall the name given and no mention was made of the Sabre base.
-
This car apparently has some relationship with the Sabre Saw ;D
-
Bump before black hole?
Or call this solved/merged due to the DRB connection?
-
I do really wish to know more about this one!
-
Time for a hint maybe (as I guess the answer can't be found online) ?
-
Trying to tidy up some really old puzzles on this board.
Any chance you could do something with this one Dan?
-
Made by Menassen Custom Cars of Perth?
-
is it a DBR Sabre? vw based kit car
-
:o i did not see page 2....
-
Sorry all - been away from the boards for some time and didn't even realise I still had an outstanding puzzle!
Made by Menassen Custom Cars of Perth?
Not the name I have attached, no - Correct country but wrong state.
The sales ad reads as follows:
"*** Convertible. Complete body, windscreen, Countach flares, RX-7 rear bobtail, easy car to build, suit VW Type 3 - Rotary engine. D.M.T. approved in all states. Rear body restyling has been made."
I'm after that first word, and it's honestly quite a common/easy word in the automotive sphere for cars. The number of stars is not representative of the number of letters in the word.
-
Replica ?
-
Sports ?
-
Sports ?
Replica ?
OK not quite that common, more like a relatively straightforward name that's been used on a number of other vehicles over the years.
-
Name of an animal ?
-
Classic ?
-
A (probably pointless) bump. Classic ?
-
Silverstone roadster 2006
designed/built by Dennis R. Beford ("DRB")

This has been on the Pro's board for over 5 years..
I'll move it to the Master Puzzlers board, but they couldn't finalise it when they could reply to it on the Pro's, so I'll just give it a week or two then move it to the Black Hole if it's not solved..

Magnum by Kevin Whittaker
-
Magnum by Kevin Whittaker
This should be the correct answer. Kevin Whittaker obtained the rights to produce and market a full-convertible version of the DRB Sabre MkI under the name "Magnum."
-
I'm sure you're right, so I've given you the point and moved this to the Solved board.
Well done.
-
Was someone awarded a point for this? I posted the answer in February.

Yes, please give the point to sixtee5cuda.
-
Done :)
-
My apologies. I gave the point to gte without reading everything properly.
I'm afraid I've taken your point away now Wayne, now that Wendax has given it to sixtee5cuda, who actually solved the puzzle.
