Is the car known as a "Something Special" or do you just know the builder's name ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

From the little I know, it is known by the make and model chassis, plus the builder's name.

Mark V the man or Mark V the model type? Either way, it's neither of those.

OK. Maybe it's the LWB model - the Mark VI ?

Ermmm...... I'm a bit slow.  Is it a Mark 6 or have I suggested something stupid?

BTW I'm attempting questions whilst following the Test match online. I was too tight to continue with my Sky sports package and now I'm paying the penalty!

Sorry, I'm not a cricket fan; too slow for me...

From what I can see, it's not a Mark VI either.

Using your rough guidelines as to build date, and ignoring cars with a known history, there's not much left.

Was it built by N Ridge ?

Not Stan Smith, although the builder's name has the same number of letters for both his first and second name  ;). New balls please...

John Orpin?
Spot on  :applause: Yes, this is the Buckler '90' DD1 by John Orpin, from c.1956-58. Well done, the deserved point is yours, so you can now go back to watching the cricket...

Thanks. I was a bit baffled when considering this solution, because "a certain site" reckons the car had a works-style body by Orpin, and the photo clearly shows a very individual design. Who am I to argue?

Thank you also for allowing me 3 stabs during the lock!

(Your latest puzzle posting confirms you've had a busy summer. I was wondering what was going on, because you don't usually have time to respond so quickly. I still haven't worked out where you saw this image - according to my geography it's in the Bay of Biscay! Presumably in the South-West.)

I spotted this photo (and took my photo of that photo) earlier this year on the Fairthorpe and others Club stand at the NEC , Birmingham, Restoration Show.

The Buckler representative on this Specials stand had never seen the actual car and believed it to have been lost many years ago, unless anyone knows otherwise...
