I had heard of him before, but can't pretend that I knew much about him or his automotive work, so this might be a tougher one than I first thought. This proposed car's name might be a tad easier to solve as a start.

Is it a geograhical name, e.g. Continental, Monte Carlo etc.?

No, more reflective of what the car does (which might not be too obvious from the illustration).
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Is it a generic term ('Drophead Coupe'), or something more unique to this particular concept?

Not a generic term but unique to this vehicle, reflecting what it does.

Is it an abstract term that's more reflective of what it does than descriptive (e.g., Ford's 'Skyliner')?

The name is not abstract, but to quote from a well known British TV ad, ‘it does what it says on the tin.’

Something along those lines, but more catchy and 'marketing speak.'

Well found. But honestly, why? Who would want to spend money on an old 25/30 back then?

Wow, how on earth did you manage to find that, as I took this (some time ago) from an old Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club magazine, and could find no mention of John Ingram or his patented Retractatop saloon anywhere on line!

Traditionally, the Puzzles I place from print sources (most of mine) last at least twice as long here on AP as those taken from digital sources. I try and avoid the latter when possible as in the past we all know that sadly some more dubious AP Members have obviously used on-line image search tools to solve a Puzzle, which rather defeats the whole point of this exceptional website for automotive enthusiasts with good car knowledge.

Anyway, very well found, and a deserved point to you.

If it was patented then surely everyone who builds a retracting roof car must be paying royalties to him or his descendants?

I guess the Ingram patent must have had a unique feature that the others haven't used, as Peugeot has been building folding hardtops in ths style since the early 1930s, for example!
