Orphaned puzzles
« on: June 22, 2010, 02:36:56 PM »
Apologies if this has been discussed somewhere already without my knowing it. Anyway... here is another of those frustrating little situations that we may want to address.

This is the scenario: You see a puzzle that you know the answer to, but you don't get your point... or the puzzle hasn't been moved to where you can answer it yet, so you can't even post a guess. Why? Because the person who posted the puzzle has, without notice, stopped being active for a long time, and you don't know when (or if) they'll be back!

Anyone have any suggestion how this could be handled? Perhaps unsolved puzzles could be taken down if their originator has been inactive for a certain amount of time? Or maybe one of the administrators (who knows the answer to the puzzle) could take ownership of it?

Yes it's a good idea to tackle this problem.
Without notification to the administrators of absence there should be a time limit set on the inactive ones.
I have a situation with one but I'm sure other members also have the same.

Post your answer and bring the thread to the admin's attention.  They will then decide, on a case by case basis, how to proceed.
