Author Jan P. Norbye contribution to magazines?
« on: June 06, 2022, 06:35:37 AM »
Dear members, there are many knowledgeable petrolheads available here, I was looking for some help in finding magazine articles written by well-known book author Jan P. Norbye. Do any of you know to which automotive magazine(s) Jan P. Norbye contributed in 1984? I did find "Road & Track" as well as "Car & Driver"Perhaps references, yet both these magazines according to my search don't contain a Jan P. Norbye article on the November 1984 Turin Motor Show. I'm looking for that article. In general I would also like to understand a bit about Jan P. Norbye himself. He wrote som many book about as well European as US vehicles I wonder whether he was an Englishman or an American. Thar information I couldn't find so far. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thank you very much "pnegyesi" for that information. Although born Norwegian he seems to have written primarily for the UK/US market.

Now I'm going to try my luck, does anyone on this board have the Car and Driver magazine issue from February 1985 in their archive?

What do you need from that issue? The Turin Motor Show coverage was not written by Mr Norbye - see attachment

Thx once again "pnegyesi". There's no sense in buying a magazine on E-Bay USA, paying rediculous import tax and then not being the one you're looking for. Your photo brings me at least one step further, it's not the "Car and Driver" magazine. If this pictured page is the only coverage on the Turin Motor Show then it's as you point out not written by Jan P.Nobye. So it must have been another magazine.

By the way "pnegyesi", you must have an impressive and well organised archive if you can do this photo that quickly. Thumbs up!!

Not exactly :) I am in close contacts with one of the editors of C&D and she was at the office today.

Unfortunately the best part of my archive is in storage for the next 7-8 years. I miss my papers terribly, but that's how life works now.

Recognisable situation regarding your archive, although I have to admit my loss since the longest period without archive for me is 6 years. As long as archive is well kept you can enjoy it again in the future, something very nice to look forward to.
