It's been a sad month for car design this month with the loss of Aldo Brovarone and Oliver Winterbottom.

Brovarone was of course the genius behind many of Pininfarina's best designs, including the Ferrari Dino and Alfa Duetto. He reached the grand old age of 94.

Winterbottom may have had a lower profile but he was nevertheless a brilliant designer in his own right, responsible for cars such as the 1970s Lotus Elite and TVR Tasmin. He was 76.

It's very sad to have lost two of the best designers from what many see as the golden age of car design, the 1960s and 70s.

I would like to pay my respects to the brilliant designer Robert Opron, who died on 29th March at the age of 89 after an illustrious career with Simca, Citroen, Renault and finally Fiat Centro Stile, where his best known design was the Alfa Romeo SZ "Il Mostro", which he designed in collaboration with Zagato. After that he had his own design consultancy in southern Paris but retired for good in 2000.
