Happy New Year to all AutoPuzzlers.
I am in the process of looking through every single puzzle. While I am doing that I am trying to restore missing puzzle pictures. For those who have not been here: in 2014 there was a meltdown and apparently there was not a proper backup. Due to the intricacies of the SMF system and without a database it was very difficult to restore the pictures. Luckily the pictures were there, but coded in a way which made it impossible to match them directly to a puzzle. So a system was devised where a date of a topic was matched to the date of a picture. This enabled a success rate of around 85-90 percent.
However there are still puzzles without pictures.
Over the years the following methods were used to upload pictures to puzzles:
1, upload the picture to an external site (e.g. PhotoBucket) and link it over.
2, upload the picture to the AutoPuzzles site directly and link it.
3, uploading it as an attachment
1-2: In many cases these puzzle pictures are visible on the topic page but are not showing on the index page.
3: where the match described above was succesful it is okay. In other cases the connection survived the meltdown. Here it is possible to download the attached picture (which is visible but just as an attachment) and reupload it.
But there are still puzzles without pictures.
I am not consistent entirely, but I am doing the download/upload thing, I also download pictures from Photobucket and re-upload it as an attachment.
If you have spare time on your hand and would like to help - please let me know. Best solution is to go through your old puzzles and check what happened and re-upload the picture if possible.
Thanks
