Italian coachbuilders' emblems
« on: November 22, 2018, 03:57:46 PM »
Can anyone identify this crossed flag emblem? The base flags and the flag 'poles' are identical in size and shape  to those on Vignale cars of the 50s and 60s weg Italia 2000; Standard Vanguard; Triumph Herald; Alfa Romeo; Lancia.

Many Vignale flags are based on the international maritime semaphore flags eg white cross on blue background is V for Vignale. Blue square on a white background is S for Standard. Similarly F for Fiat; M for Maserati.

This one may indicate on the left the letter "O" but that on the right is unknown. Is is an Olympics or Olympia reference? Was it  on a special car for an Olympics?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

When I read thjis, I immediately thought of the Rochdale Olympic.  As it was kit car, a proud builder might have cloned the Vignale emblem.  Pure speculation.
