Title: Slow Answers
Post by: Otto Puzzell on September 09, 2008, 06:15:20 AM
All,

As I was yesterday, I will be at an all-day business conference today through Thursday, and will not be able to respond to all puzzle guesses in a timely fashion. I didn't return home until 10:00 PM last night, and expect more of the same.

Thank you for your patience. Keep puzzling among yourselves, and smoke 'em if you got 'em.

For the first time, I own my own apartment (yay!) and today I finally got a web connection of my own, so I won't have to 'borrow' from my neighbours' open connections (which can be painstakingly slow at times). Therefore, I haven't got around to answering any questions that might have been asked here for the past few days - but now I'm back!

Glad to have you back.

This month is shaping up to be the busiest month ever for this site.  Please keep visiting and posting boys and girls.  It is helping us to grow.

Welcome back @re, you gave us a break!  :D
Ultra, that is by far the best site I've ever been, and the only one (car-related) I've got an account in! I'm looking forward to contribute with much more effort!

Useful thread. Thank you for launching it, Otto.
While we're at it, I will be away until Friday and unable to anwer. Be patient, my whaddyacallit friends, and your patience shall be rewarded in the end.

I'll be away from Friday through Monday. After that, I have some days off work, at home, so I'll get back to moving some puzzles from Rookie to Expert and some from Expert to Pro. And I'll probably throw in a couple of new ones, although I don't expect them to last long with the new guys we've got on the site... it really raises the bar for posting new puzzles. Nice going, fellas!

:applause:

I'm still around tomorrow, then off and away for about 10 days. I hope to see many of mine solved by then, but be patient for the points and answers, guys.

I'm leaving home now, going away for the weekend and won't be back until Sunday evening - which means I won't reply to any of your guesses until then.

Have a nice weekend!

I'm leaving for London on Monday evening on a quick Christmas shopping trip. There I'll also be picking up my own, very expensive and sought-after example of the complete Beaulieu Encyclopedia. Maybe I'll be a dangerous man after that, or maybe everything will just be boring... who knows? :)

I'm also going to retrieve some other stuff that I've bought, which hopefully will let me post some real obscure puzzles here in the future.

Oh, and I'm going to see Coldplay at the O2 Arena. That'll be nice, too ;D

Just letting you know. Will be back on Wednesday evening to answer any questions that you might have asked about my puzzles.

OK than...I'm moving all my puzzles now!
BTW @re it's incredible, on the 11th of December I bought from Alibris  "my own, very expensive and sought-after example of the complete Beaulieu Encyclopedia" , the 3-volume set...they are going to ship it in weeks!

One day, in the not too distant future, this site will be just as important to the rare auto connoisseur as the Beaulieu Encyclopedia.

I posted an answer on one puzzle on January 15th.  The poser of the puzzle has not yet said whether it is right or wrong.  That was three weeks ago!
I accept that there are circumstances where people have to be away from the forum.  Can I suggest that when this happens they advise a moderator or one of the regulars and ask them to keep a watching brief on their puzzles.  Otherwise the whole purpose of the site is defeated.

All,

I am experiencing some technical difficulty at home. I have not been able to access the site since Sunday. I can access the site forum from my computer at work, but can't spend a lot of time doing this. I'll reply to posts in my puzzles as time allows.

Thanks!

Not a melt-down. It got stolen :( So I'm without computer until I buy myself a new one. And I don't think I'll be able to do it earlier than September. Until then I have to rely on using internet while visiting friends (or maybe I'll find myself new job where I have time to do it at work).

Wow - that stinks.

FYI, I'll be limited to early-hours access only, for a 2-to-6 week period, beginning tomorrow. I've been asked to go on-site and hold a customer relationship together while a new delivery team is assembled. Heavy on-site firewall controls (can't even access Google, from what I've been told. Hopefully, it's not that bad). Regardless, I'll be in a very public cubicle, with VP level customers walking by constantly.

So, I'll be around, but not outside of the wee hours, Michigan USA time.

My apologies.

We are going through our bi-annual slow database time.  GoDaddy has already been contacted and their only answer, as always, is to try and upsell me to a virtual dedicated server.  Expensive.   Be patient and in a day or two at most it will be back to normal.

I've no puzzles posted, so it doesn'tmatter but I shall be offline for a bit as I'm moving house (first time in over 58 years!) and the phone cannot be reconnected immediately (same town, same exchange) although it was possible in days gone by, but now in this technological it's all too difficult and the broadband follows 14 days later . .

Some of the rookie puzzles I have my eye on will have come and gone before I can pitch in with an answer

Apparently several comments remained unanswered for a long time. (some are older than 2-3 weeks, look esp. at rookie, expert and pro puzzles)
Would it be possible to check it out? Thanks!  :)

I expressly don't mean the posts of @re who wasn't online for weeks. He seems to be temporarily unable to find time for this board.

I only think of those who are frequently and constantly online here.

Today, four weeks after moving house, broadband has reappeared.
I shall have to do a bit of catching up, but there are more pressing things as it's the height of the season for using (and therefore maintaining) ones old cars!

Well, guys, again I bring you my sincere apologies for going AWOL. I don't really have any excuses apart from the ones I've already posted - I haven't had any vacation at all this summer, and working through the week at hours when I'm normally sleeping takes its toll, so I haven't been able to find the time.

I'm sorry - but I can't guarantee it's not going to happen again. I won't be posting any new puzzles in the foreseeable future as I know I probably won't be able to maintain them, but I'll try to be a bit better at responding to guesses you guys make.

On another note, I've sold my old X1/9 - it failed its MOT this summer and although saw it coming, I was sad to realise I just couldn't fix it myself and didn't think it was worth it to let a garage do the job. Sooner or later I'm hoping to replace it with a Grinnall Scorpion III, if I can get it on the road in Norway, but for now it's just me and the Alfa.

And now, on to responding to my old posts :)

Hi all, I'm going to be on and off for the next few weeks. I'm going on holiday tomorrow for a week so I won't be online after today until next thursday. Then the saturday of that week (12th) I'm going back to uni and since I'm moving into a new place I don't know how long it will be until my internet is sorted and I'm back online. If all goes well it will only be a day or two but might be longer. I've only got a few puzzles left and almost all are old so it shouldn't be a problem but if anyone does venture a guess please be patient and I'll answer when I can.

Dear fellow AutoPuzzlers.  Sadly I suffered a very unexpected bereavement earlier this week with the passing of my mother, so please bare with me for a while as I won't be spending much time on the website.  I will also be preparing for the Goodwood Revival and then taking a break, so realistically not much AutoPuzzle correspondance from me until early October.  Thank you all for your undestanding.

Not all that much regret though, as I will be fulfilling a long-standing ambition to travel the world, so I won't be at home to baffling vehicles for approximately five months. I will leave my unsolved puzzles up and hopefully get back on the case on my return. Keep on puzzling guys - there's nobody better than Autopuzzles!

Wow!   Good luck in your travels.  I think you will find the net in most corners of the world.  Hopefully once in a while you will get to drop us a note and a local pic or two.

Thank you for your kind thoughts - as you can see I'm still posting as normal for the moment and will continue to do so hopefully for a while yet.

I just have to undergo radiotherapy/chemotherapy for a few weeks and bingo! all will be okay again.
AutoPuzzles keeps me on the ball so to speak  - it keeps my brain focused!
As soon as I'm fit again I'm looking forward to competing in a few events with the cars next year.

I also have to tell you that another of our members who I met recently is also undergoing similar treatment and I hope that he is up and running and fully fit again soon.

Title: Re: Slow Answers
Post by: Ray B. on November 23, 2010, 03:35:19 PM
There seems to be an epidemic of "slow answers" these days, so I' m sorry to add my voice to the choir.
My visits to Autopuzzles are going to be very scarce from now on. Well not really my visits - I still have a peek every day. But mostly my activity as a poster of puzzles.
I posted a message explaining this some times ago in the Editors section, but I think it's fair to let all fellow puzzlers now. In have no serious health troubles like woodinsight, although I had my share this year  (please get over this shit soon, Woody!). But I felt that I should still try to do something with my life and my work. And all this car research is probably consuming too much time and - mostly- excitement, and maybe I don't have enough for both.

So I have decided to give more of my time to the comics character I've created long ago (whose name, incredibly, is Ray B......) I have started a blog about him, hoping to get a magazine or publisher interested, and I have fun. More fun than I've had in years , except naturally while searching for such or such oddball car. The address, if anyone is interested, is this one:
http://lespenseesimprobablesderaybanana.blogspot.com/
Any visit from a fellow autopuzzler will please me very much.

I hat falses promises, and I won't promise to come back here very often. Although... if I think of a new and interesting group puzzle, you can be sure I won't wait to post it ( and will stay around awhile until you guys solve it.)
Best of luck to everyone, ant thanks to Charlie, Otto, Paul and all those who make this place invaluable
Ray B. (gone fishing)

Ray B,
I understand how you feel - I'm already spending far too much time trying to find solutions (but I'm a relative newbie at the moment, that's my excuse!)
I for one will miss your contributions but will visit your blog from time to time - it is very amusing and well done.
Anyway, don't entirely forget us here - look in now and again and say hello.
Bon courage and best wishes for your future endeavours.

Can I suggest that if people are going to be leaving, either permanently or temporarily, they let one of the regulars know the answers and ask them to effectively take over ownership of the puzzles.  There is nothing worse than finding an answer, posting it and then seeing no response ...

Sure. But don't worry about that as far as I am concerned. I'll keep watch of my own puzzles often enough so that it can't happen longer than three or four days.

Amazingly they have computers in the USA too!
You can log on from any computer in anyone's home, hotel or internet cafe.
When I'm travelling on business abroad I always make sure I can get access to the hotel's computer and log on to AP; in many countries it's free, unlike in the UK where it's the usual British Rip-Off at about £10 per go...
Enjoy your trip!

I think it's likely to be crowded, especially around the war memorials near the mall. and near Arlington cemetery. You might also run into the President and his entourage in search of a photo opp, which brings all normal modes of transport (except feet) to a standstill.

Running away from autumn,so cold here..

Just wondering what you call cold?!
I should think it's much colder here (UK) in summer than it is in Brazil in the autumn (or winter for that matter!)
You might feel at home in certain parts of southern Europe though!
Have a good trip.
You won't be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed will you?

Having now solved my computer problems I now find myself having to undergo hospital treatment again.
Most annoying as I was hoping to take my car north at the end of August to visit the UK, Netherlands, Germany & Switzerland. That may be on hold at the moment and I apologise if my answers are a bit slow for a while.

Hello

Thanks for you re Patience. I am still recovering from my accident as my wife explained. As up now she is typing this message for me as a lot of my bones in hands and arms where broken and still not healed.

It was not a cycling accident but I had the great idea of riding my dirt bike or motorcycle again afther some years. It was not a good idea.
A 4x4 car who was off roading did not see me and I did not see him.....I lost  :(

I had some bad injuries all over and was in the hospital for a few weeks for some operations , but I should fully recover.

Sorry, but my answers on my puzzles will have to wait for a while.

Thanks again.

Best regards

Amsterdam.

I went to the hospital today and finally I can sort of use my hands again.
Finally I can use the computer without any help.
Recovering is going as planned.

I will reply on my ongoing puzzles, but the replies will stay slow for a while.

Thanks again.

Since my unfortunate accident I am happy to say allot of good things are happening in my life. I have changed my business in to something very successful and spending the limited time that is left with family and friends.
Most of my activities now are the result of all those weeks I have spend laying in bed with nothing else to do but think and trying to turn a negative experience into a positive one.
Unfortunate this positive change has a downside as well. There is not much time left for the many hobbies I have.
AP is one of those hobbies I just can't see to find the time anymore.

I am not going to leave AP but my on line time is and will be very limited for a unknown period of time as otherthings in life are more important at the moment.

Best regards

Amsterdam

Very sad to hear that DeAutogids. I can sympathise fully with you as I'm still undergoing treatment for cancer myself. I'm not familiar with Hodgkin's disease and hope that the cure will not be too difficult to undergo.
Try to keep a positive attitude, it does help even when things are working to bring you down.

Hello DeAutogids,

Wishing all the best, stay strong.

Woodinsight, I wondered how you were feeling right now?

Rich.
I'm now on a milder form of chemotherapy for the next three months and the cancer in my backbone has stabilised so it's positive at the moment.  :)  The only downside is that I had to sell my Diva as there was no way I could race it again.  :(  Anyway health is the most important thing when you grow older. Thanks for inquiring Richard.

Hope the milder chemo is OK for you. Pleased that there is positive news. Sad about the Diva (lovely little car!), but as you say, good health is what we really need as we get older, I'm 65 now and my health is not at all good, limiting everything I would wish to do.  Sometimes even staying at home can be uncomfortable! Stay well.

However, I have got a strong dose of final preparations for this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed in just two weeks time (a few tickets still available, but expected to be sold out by the end of next week), so very few visits here from me until the Festival is over.

You'd be surprised just how many people aren't in the least interested in football at all! And it's nothing to do with the fact that England never win anything!

I thought Euro 20:12 was an exchange rate, but it seem they call a football match that.

In fact I'm not surprised at all. Some of my German friends are as bored about football as you, but not many..

Salt Flats season starts in a week.  I'm going to be pretty tied up (not to mention in locations with zero web access and 18 hour work days) for the next couple of months.

One good thing that's happened is that my race car finally passed the "move under its own power" test yesterday (07/31/2012) and seems to be running pretty well...at least well enough to put some nice black stripes on my driveway.

Anyway, my involvement will be at a much lower level than it has for the last few months since I tripped over this place and fell head first into it.  But when the last salty dog is hung, I'll be back with more regularity.

Here are a coupla photos of the car and its tell-tail (pun intended) tracks.

Well, it's not a "pristine trailer queen" but I've subscribed to the "pistons before paint" concept.  If I get thru this season without any major mechanical issues, the paint will be stripped off...it's the "California Special" water-based lacquer that's cracked and crazed beyond all hope of repair.

I hope I have some happy tales to tell.  In the meantime, there should be an "official Speed Week 2012" thread in this section of landracing.com:
http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/board,50.0.html (http://www.landracing.com/forum/index.php/board,50.0.html)  It uses the same Simple Machines forum software as Autopuzzles, so the look and feel is pretty familiar.  We'll be doing "almost live" coverage from the salt at all the events, just as we've done for the last 4 years.  If you wanna get a "from the salt" view/commentary, that's the place to get it.  It beats waiting for the December issue of Hot Rod Magazine as was the case in days (ok, decades) past.

I'll be checking in from time to time, but for now, best wishes to all on AP.

Finally home.  A little trip that lasted almost 2 weeks and a couple thousand miles, but was well worth it.  It's gonna take me forever to catch up...if I do before "car season" starts (well, it starts tomorrow with an indoor car show...but it'll be quite a while before the weather allows outdoor activities/work in the unheated garage.)

I'll post some photos of stuff that went on while I was in Oregon when I get stuff transferred from my laptop.

"Car season" has started here in the high desert...well, it had...until we got 70 mph winds and snow today.  "If you don't like the weather here, just wait 30 minutes...." just like everywhere else, I guess.  Anyway, I hope to be spending a lot more time on my race car and my Camaro and, like Otto, I'll be on the road for several trips before "salt flats season" starts in August.  I'll be going to California in a week and I don't know how long that trip will be.  Until I run out of clean clothes in my suitcase, I guess.  I'll be a little busy until October.  But I'll do my best to check in when I can.

Any suggestions?  I bought a pressure washer yesterday.  The plan is to take the race car outta the garage outta the garage and clean it thoroughly underneath.  Then the Camaro comes into the garage for a day and a half of work before a car show on Saturday.  Then I have 10 days until the Rat Fink Reunion...and I may have to hot-foot it to Ohio (from Utah) for the Target 550 streamliner testing...unless that gets put off for a month.

Then a little more work on the Camaro and in August, it's Speed Week on the salt...which starts a 3 month thrash.

If ya wanna come out and help a bit, yer more than welcome.  I can go buy another box of Cheerios.  :)

Hmmm...I've spent a long time at Lands End this year checking the water level.  Might be a different Lands End, tho:

That one's at the end of the road heading toward the salt flats.  My granddaughter is piloting the vessel on the way to the starting line.

Well, not really.  She was just part of a gag that I set up for some other folks.  But 3 out of the 5 events (and 3 of the 4 I attend) this year have been rained out.  I've spent a lotta time driving between the Salt Lake City area and the salt to check conditions and post photos on another firum...it didn't help, tho.  Yesterday we found that the FIA portion of the final event has been canceled and the FIM part might be called off today.

It's been a brutal year, although I've had the chance to squeeze a lotta car shows and cruise nites in:
http://www.chevyasylum.com/cruisin/cruisin2013/Welcome.html (http://www.chevyasylum.com/cruisin/cruisin2013/Welcome.html)

It looks like I might be able to stop the phone calls and email questions from those who can't read what I've just posted...you get the picture...and spend some time here...at least until I get the race car back into the garage and start the body and paint work.

It's gonna take me a while to catch up tho.  I'll be in and out when I can.  I look forward to reading posts from old (and new) friends.

New year, new challenges. I have been on AP for almost four and a half years now. It is a fantastic place and I enjoy it tremendously. But my life has changed. I am doing my PhD as a distance learning student at the University of Leicester, I am now one of the editors of the Hungarian Fortepan picture archive to name just a few new projects. So I have to make adjustments. This means that I will spend less time here. I will take care of my puzzles and will probably continue posting new ones at a slower pace, but I don't think I will be able to participate in solving new puzzles or at least not that much.

This is not a goodbye, just an update :)

I'm not thinking of what I definetly lost, there's no need for that.  :'(

Over the last few months I was largely absent from AP. There were so many different projects going on, that it was impossible for me to focus on puzzling. It speaks volumes of the site's attractiveness that as soon as the pressure ebbed a teeeny bit, I immediately returned :). It is still a guilty pleasure, and don't expect too much from me.

But if you find a missing puzzle picture, which you can't locate, don't modify the topic, but send me a PM and we'll see what we can do.

My apologies for my slow response over the last 36 hours. I went online yesterday morning to find I had no internet connection, and wasted some time disconnecting and reconnecting to no avail, to find the same thing awaiting me this morning.

I have just dug out an old laptop and waited a millenium for it to warm up only to find that the wifi hub is working perfectly. Hence my posts now. The offending laptop is only about 6 months old so off to the retailer it will go........

Same with me the last days. I even bought a new WLAN router just to find out that the old router was ok, but my two-and-a-half-year-old laptop's wifi didn't work. And that marvellous piece of machinery doesn't even have a possibility to connect an ethernet cable. Fortunately it works right now. Hope it will last...

Well, I know when to throw in the towel. Until March, 2018 (and possibly beyond) I will only be an infrequent visitor here. I have a new extra job - I am the photo archivist at the Hungarian Museum of Transport. The archive is in a huge mess, a small group of people is now trying to sort out 50 years worth of chaos. I'm there twice a week, plus I'm writing my thesis. All this on top of my daily job and other stuff (like organising a Concours d'Elegance on the shores of Lake Balaton each May). I am not complaining, but all this leaves me 0 time for AP. If there's an emergency, I'm around though.

Have a good time. Lovely place.
Does your car know you're heading in that direction?  Or will it go straight to the Baltic Coast?!

Thanks, my car and I have been in Brittany before (second picture: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/vintage/your-cars/msg193003/#msg193003), so I hope we both will remember, otherwise a good chance for my daughter to prove her map reading abilities.  :)

My laptop has failed and I'm using an old one which has glacial movement. Please bear with me - I will be amongst younger people on Sunday who will no doubt show me how stupid I've been.

All sorted. Somebody out there had posted a video clip from The Simpsons on a well-known car website, and my laptop took an instant dislike to it. Presumably a virus somewhere along the line - why do people get a kick out of this?

I will be away from AP for the next three weeks because I'm going on holiday to California 8) (The Petersen Museum, BTW, is definitely on the list). I have been winding down my puzzles in the last few weeks because of this, and it has worked out perfectly, because my last remaining puzzle has been resolved today, and I'm boarding the plane tomorrow morning!
I will be back in mid-october, keep up the good work!

I dont let the good ones go unsolved oko!  ;)

Monty posts more modern cars like sports cars and super cars. I fit more into that group because thats the style i’ve grown up with. If you look at most of my solved puzzles they’re all race cars and sports cars except for a few. Keep up the sports cars monty!

Hehe thanks guys. I do tend to focus more on modern cars, because that's where I can find some holes to fill. I love cars of the 50s and 60s but AP opened my eyes about how little I knew about the rare cars of that era, and I'm still struggling to keep up. In truth don't really own that many books or magazines about rare classic cars. I have also posted quite a number of prewar cars but that's easy because there were so many thousands of marques back then that the well never dries up.

My laptop got hit by a virus - a malware programme didn't work and I had to have the hard drive wiped. At the moment it's refusing to connect to my router and I've warmed-up an old laptop just to get back online.

It took 15 minutes to connect to a server, and another 10 minutes to answer a question on one of my puzzles. So I'm just letting you know that I'm not in what you'd call immediate contact!

It will get sorted. I only wish I'd "enjoyed" the web pages which provided the virus (there were over 4000 issues and I've only had the laptop 2 years!) but I don't recall using it for that purpose. It goes to show what goes on without our knowledge. Maybe they mistook me for the Pentagon.

Alles in Ordnung.

I was in touch with him and pleased to say he is well.
He's been extremely busy at work since returning from his holiday and is doing a lot of overtime.
But he and his wife (or partner?) are expecting a baby in a few weeks and any time he has at home he is preparing for this big event!
I'm sure most of you know what's involved with getting the room ready and buying clothes and push-chairs and all the paraphernalia that goes with a baby!
We wish him luck and look forward to his return once he has a little time.

Hello my fellow Autopuzzlers!

I'm back. I appreciate all your comments of concern and support in this thread. My baby has not been born yet (still two or three weeks to go) but everything is on track now. As I explained to Carnut, my holidays in April were only a couple of weeks but when I returned home I was blindsided by the realisation that there was a huge amount of stuff that needed to be done before the baby came and that I had not paid proper attention to, both at work (projects in which my part needed to be finished before I went away on paternity leave) and, especially, at home. The last three months (three months already?! :o) have been a whirlwind of long hours at the office and my spare time being completely taken up by a myriad preparations, shopping trips, painting walls and building Ikea furniture, prenatal and childcare lessons, etc., as well as frequent and tedious rehabilitation sessions for a painful bursitis in my right shoulder which I started to suffer from at the start of the year, just as my wife and I learnt that we had a child on the way (The two events are not related! ;D) and which has been slow to get better, as these things often are.

Now it is all done! The baby room is ready, chock full of clothes, plush toys, diapers and the like, and the pain in my shoulder is all but gone; my last rehab session was last Friday. I realise that the middle of the summer might not be the best time to make my comeback, as many members will be away on holiday, but that's how it has worked out! Today I will start to review all the replies to my puzzles that were left unsolved, and once that is done I will be ready to post new puzzles. I have no idea if I will be able to keep it up after the baby is born though! On the one hand, you know, a new little person around the house will take up a fair chunk of my time; on the other, I will be on leave and babies are supposed to sleep a lot so I'm guessing that may give me some spare time too..? Anyway, we'll see how it plays as we go. Right now, I'm going to start hitting those threads!

Hello all. Just a brief note to let my fellow Autopuzzlers that my son was born last Saturday. He's in excellent health and I am a proud and happy father.  :) :)
Though he obviously takes up a good chunk of my day, I will continue to have ample time to play in the coming weeks. The only nag is that I am away from home. For complicated reasons that I will not go into, the birth has taken place in another city, and we will stay here for a little while. This means I don't have access to my picture collection, and therefore will hardly be able to post new puzzles for the time being. But I will keep replying to my existing puzzles (and attempt to solve others, if I can!

I don't know what has happened with Barrett.  He posted a lot of puzzles and now seems to have dropped out.
Can I suggest that an Admin move all his puzzles to the Pros' section.  If certain of an answer, a pro can then either solve the puzzle or adopt it and ask an Admin to move it back to the Rookies to be treated like a new puzzle and moved progressively up the groups.

To add to my problems, next week I am living elsewhere to dog-sit my daughter's very exuberant Golden Irish. She is off to Illyria with the pleasant prospect of quarantine when she returns.

I will have access to the internet but little chance of spending much time on it - the dog is full of the joys of life.

I've been slow answering for quite a long time.
I'm planning to be fully back now. I had to take a looooong break from AP because it was extremely time consuming...but it's still the best place to be.
Each time I tried to get back, I had to face 100, then 120 and today 132 PAGES of unread topics.
I am slowly catching up but I'm afraid I will do some reposts before that.
The bright side is that I have an amount of new stuff to keep you busy a long time!

I have just attended the Goodwood Revival and had the good fortune to meet Djetset who of course was as busy as usual, but he found time to enjoy coffee and sparkling repartee. He has been absent from this site for nearly 12 months now but he has very valid reasons!
