Hautier 1899. Big mistake?
« on: February 05, 2016, 01:40:21 PM »
I explore the first French car-based books, magazines, and patents XIX and early XX century. To avoid errors accumulated over 100 years. And I write a bit about these cars.

All well-known electric car Hautier 1899. Photo from the album Jules Beau. It is also well-known model in scale 1/43 from the company J.M.K. series R.A.M.I.

In 1899, at the Paris Motor Show, the captain Draullette presented electric cab. There are at least 10 articles in the press in 1899, and a patent on an electric Draulette, but there is no mention of the company Hautier. The only mention of it in the signature made on a typewriter, an album of photos Jules Beau. Also an electric car does not say in the publications about the company Hautier.
Perhaps Hautier let this car? Maybe Jules Beau wrong?
It turns out that French colleagues had previously discovered this problem.

I just spent 10 minutes on Gallica.

Here's what I found in Le Sport Universel Illustré. In 1900 they mentioned the Hautier voiturette and then they showed a picture a year later. It looks nothing like this cab.

BTW La Locomotion Automobile also coverd the Hautier car in 1901 in great detail, but I am a bit tired to quote it now

Many thanks!
I poorly explained.
What Hautier produced cars - the fact. But electric Draullette?
I'm looking for evidence Draullette = Hautier.
