I bought one of those as my very first car - a 1966 Viva SL. This one seems to have very little styling input. There appears to be a lot more chrome, and fancy wheel trims with whitewalls. Apart from that, it looks like a standard model to me. Oh, and the metallic paint would not have been available from the factory.

I'm surprised Vignale got involved in this. Do you think GM asked them to see what they could come up with for a possible "top of the range" model? They don't seem to have bothered to do much, unless the interior has been restyled.

The picture are filed as taken in 1965 in Vignale factory (see the lot of Fiat 850 coupe Vignale in the background of the interior photo), so it could indeed be a reaearch prototype for GM, if the regular car was introduced later.
Here you see the other 2 of the series.

The HA Viva was built from 1963-1966. This is a photo of the SL model, just like the one I owned, and there do appear to be differences in the rear wings (more rounded) and the frontal grille details. The (plastic?) wooden dash is a fancy extra.

This is interesting. I haven't seen this Vignale prototype before, and at first sight it looks very similar to the production Vauxhall Viva HA. But there are a lot of differences. The profiles of the bonnet and boot (hood and trunk) are different. The bonnet on the production HA is more horizontal, with a pronounced step down to the front grille, and the boot has slight fins at the edges. The Vignale version smooths out these features. The profile of the top of the grille is similar on both models, but the bottom of the Vignale model is more curved. The front bumper is different, with the side/indicator lights as small pods mounted above it. The rear bumper also wraps around much more than the production model. The rear lamps are also quite different.

Along the side, the trim strip is moved down, with side repeater lamps at the front, and the fuel filler has been moved further back behind a flap. The rear windows are also different. The Vignale ones appear to have a metal frame, while the standard ones have the hinges bolted through the glass.

Overall the changes are quite subtle, but I think it changes a rather dumpy, uninspiring looking car into something with a distinct hint of elegance about it. I quite like it.

I agree it does look much more stylish even with relatively minor detail changes.  Definitely a touch of Italian genius which is missing from the production model.

I like the appropriate registration number of the picture you have chosen to illustrate the standard car!

Does anyone have any images or know anything about a British kit car called the Kenley TT please?  From the limited information I have, the Kenley was offered in the late 1980s (possibly from c.1986 to 1990) and was a coupe based on a Triumph Herald.  If any fellow AP fans can add any extra information, I will be very grateful.  Thanks.

This has been posted on another internet site, and I'm not sure myself. It's almost certainly French, but what is it? I don't know where it is situated, but the poster lives in Geneva - possibly a Hotchkiss?

This one is for Pal:

I have a debate going on with a couple of chaps on a WWII History Forum about this truck/trucks.

I have it as a Mavag VL 2 from 1939 and two others insist it is a Raba.

Can you help me out???

Bill

Cheers

Wouldn't the Mercedes Benz star on the radiator cap, be enough to prove it's a Mavag-Mercedes?

Any idea about the buggy on the left? The stand is Caprera at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, but the buggy could be made by somebody else, as on display there was also a Lawil.

Perhaps it is Autozodiaco model - Deserter or Kirby..

Do you know what is this little formula, please?

Hi! From what I could find it seems that Austerik Motorsport is an Italian company producing go-kart chassis. Based in Chignolo Po somewhere between Milano and Piacenza. What I couldn't find is any track of this formula car anywhere at all. Although I have seen an article reporting on some local race in 'Formula Driver' category which took place at Le Colline racetrack (which looks to be in or somewhere close to Chignolo Po) on March 23, 2010, where Massimo Austeri drove an 'Austerik 1000' car. The event was governed by Lega Nazionale Automobilismo UISP (Unione Italiana Sport Per tutti) and Austerik raced in category E, reserved for single seaters.
I could suppose that this could be the said Austerik 1000, probably with a motorcycle engine inside. I have found pictures of an Austerik with a 650cc motorcycle engine. That one is different and looks way older, but the colors (white/blue) and the stickers (Motul/Bridgestone) are the same. Attached.

P.S. Oh, another thing is that it looks pretty similar to Gloria single seaters, but still much different in what concerns the bodykit.

The hubcaps seem to be from a Daimler. Maybe it is based on a Daimler Dart aka SP250?
