The 2 cars in the middle are by Vignale (Fiat 1100 & Lancia Aprilia). But I don't believe that the fourth is also Vignale (no reference of any Vignale Ala 6C) whilst the first should be Fiat 1100 by Francis Lombardi. So a mixed display.
I tought it would have been easy... But if you don-t know either, it justifies why I spend a whole evening without results...
Ooopss... Lancia and Fiat are not by Ghia...  :-[
I've never seen that Alfa... it reminds me of similar cabriolets by Pinin Farina... but also the Ghia Supergioiello cars... I guess it could be a Ghia or a P.F.... but I really don't know... I'll try to check some books...

Why not? Vignale Stand, it can be a 6C 2500 by them in my opinion.

Actually, looking at the flower boxes on the floor, the 3 cars look together. It would be a great discover. I'll dig it more.

After further researches... the Alfa 2500 is not in the Anselmi 2500 book nor in the Fucina 2300-2500 book...
Another possible guess is Boneschi...
If it's Vignale stand it's great!

Could the Alfa be a Castagna design ? There are similarities with other cars bodied by them.

Hello,

I try to send an answer and a picture of the car but what I see is:: You already submitted this post! You might have accidentally double clicked or tried to refresh the page

The right answer is Alfa Romeo 2500 Vignale. The picture was made at the salon in Torino 1948

Try to re-login to AutoPuzzles. Also add some number of something at the end of the file.
Also, what type of file is that? Is it jpg?

Thanks. I basically agree with you, but the source you are quoting - Fornai's book - is normally all but reliable: not enough to be considered a confirmation. The evidence is that the car is in Vignale's booth, but unfortunately there are no real evidence that he made the body, as it doesn't appear anywhere else. Another period captioned picture would confirm, if any xsists.

I believe I found the car that you requested more information on,it was called the Scrimp, or nicknamed as such, was built by Wilkinson Automotive Developments in Hertfordshire in 1965-66.It was commissioned by Alan Fraser,he apparently had commissioned several prototypes at the time, his chosen car was designed by Tom Killeen.Mr. Wilkinson had a small number of staff working for him at the time. The car was delivered to Mr. Fraser as a non runner. the information I have mentions that one of his engine people made the engine to run backwards,as the Imp engine and the box was reversed in the car (mid engine instead of rear engine),the car had a steel monocoque chassis with aluminum panels. The wheels were Hillman  imp,the rear lights were Hillman hunter. The car was done in british racing green.,also the car apparently never had an official name, but nicknamed Scrimp.

Can't add more detail about the Scrimp, but I did have dealings with Brian Wilkinson in the mid-1960s and remember the business of having the engine converted to run backwards. Now, as then, I cannot understand why it was done that way rather than inverting the gearbox/final drive.
This photo (which was part of an early puzzle of mine) shows the converted pigsty in Steeple Morden where Wilkinson worked.

Would anybody have an idea what this 'Mercedes 220' would be? I saw it at a local carshow a few weeks back, but couldn't find any information for it. The owner didn't even have any papers on it, he found it in a shed ...

My guess is that's it a rebuild Lancia Aurelia B20 Coupé ...

Is the negative camber at the rear axle usual for Aurelias? Or is there a Mercedes axle (or more) underneath?
It is certainly a private Lancia-Mercedes mix.

I also attended the Antwerp classic car show a couple of weeks ago Delorean, and like you, I spotted the strange Lancia-Mercedes coupe cocktail, and took some almost identical photos.

From what i understand, c.1960 the owner of the Aurelia B20 - a Brussels-based pharmacist - suffered mechanical problems with the Lancia, so swopped its running gear for the stronger and more reliable Mercedes-Benz 220 to make a rather unusual marriage.

Does anyone know (and ideally have proof of) what this car is please?

It was found abandoned in Glasgow, Scotland, in the early 1990s.  It possibly uses a Mini or Hillman Imp engine, either rear or mid-mounted, and around three examples are believed to have been made.  Beyond that, I don't know much more, so any extra information will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Going ahead with Vignale book... This is a picture from their archive, supposed to be a "Vauxhall Viva De Luxe prototype". I'm not an expert enough of those (non Italian) cars. Can anyone, please, help me telling what's special in this car?

Thanks.
