Hi,

We have a photo of a 1950s VW/Porsche type car photographed in cca 1961 France, which we have been asked to identify. So far none of our experts have been able to nail it. Any ideas?? Alternatively, if this is the wrong section, could some please advise where I should post it.

It has a Swiss number plate, from Luzern.

Thanks. It was one of the companies I had considered but could not find a match. Now you have made me look deeper, although no match, there are certain characteristics that occur. Beutler were coach builders so could be a one-off. The rear louvers are horizontal so this could a Volkswagen derivative rather than a Porsche. Any other thoughts much appreciated. Regards

I suspect it's not that hard (I know where it comes from and the subject is quite ...covered...) and if you know it, I'll make a puzzle out of it.

I found this image on a web site discussing Roberto Chiappini. The poor Google translation seems to indicate this car was based on a Fiat 850 Spyder. Has it been puzzled before? Does anyone know the full name of this car?

According to the Standard Catalogue this car was built in 1935 by Allen M. Hoppe and Allyn F. Streur (or Streut) from Hollywood. Perhaps one E.F. Hunter Jr. was involved, too. A six-cylinder of unknown origin was used.

I received an email from a friend this morning. He asked me if I know this car. A friend from Japan requested him to help and that's what he told him:
It's probably a car which was sold in low numbers in France with VW engine. Not a Devin. Apparently the car on the pic was exported to Japan, that's all he knows!

Very scarce details, but dammit we are the best mystery-car-community in the world!

Egy-Tech would make a good first guess. Google it. You will find an Egyption made 3-wheeler. This might've been a prototype?
