Any idea what this is?  From the image of the bare chassis, it appears to use a transverse-engined FWD setup mounted behind the driver, to make a mid-engined trike.  Outside photos were taken in or near West Virginia.

Hi sixtee5cuda,

This is not me, but out good friend and puzzler Mr Rees who has identified this car:

That's a one-off 'VASS' tilter by Don Maguire:

Hello Autopuzzlers,
It's been a while, but some of you might remember me, you poor unfortunate souls.
I've got a bit of a tricky one, though this group has a tendency to redefining just what is truly tricky. Still, it may be a challenge. Or not.

The only thing I know is that it made history a while ago (within past 50 years) and that it was created for a very specific purpose, one that it achieved. Beyond that, I have nothing other than some half-formed observations, a few hazy recollections, hints as-yet unexamined and woefully ill-developed thoughts. And my lunch is now cold.

Long time no see - hope all is well in heck! I think that's the tub from a  Ford GT40.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Thank you for finding that information, Arunas.  Can it really be a "tilter"?  In the video showing this trike on a twisty road, it doesn't appear to lean.

There are 3 or 4 videos of this trike, but I can't find any information about what powers it.  I've seen a picture of the complete front suspension, but I still don't understand how it works.

Impressive indeed. The answer certainly puts the hint into context. I probably should have known what it was but I'm a wee bit out of practice in the game of puzzling autos.

Thank you!

Not really, but seems to be an Italian body on a VW chassis.

The picture was taken in Italy (Reschensee, Lago di Resia) and the license plate looked Italian to me, with an upright oval containing the I for Italy next to it. But the Italian body is just a guess after all.

The Reschensee/Lago di Resia is very close to the Austrian border, so the car could easily have come from either Italy or Austria. I wouldn't have thought four people would go long-distance touring in a car like this, but you never know.

I have seen this photo on a forum where someone has identified it as a Fiat 600 Jolly by Ghia, but it very obviously isn't one of those. Apart from anything else, according to Getty Images the photo was taken in August 1953. The wheels certainly look like VW, and the proportions are about right. It's an odd-looking thing - not much in the way of style about it. It almost looks like a military scout car, but I can't place it at all. The back seats seem to be higher up than the front ones, but I don't know if that's significant. I can't see why there would be any reason for that in a VW floorpan.

I'll try to limit such requests but still have some pics to fix.
If you recognize it and it's not a repost, I'll make a puzzle...if it is, can you please tell me what is this? It's driving me mad, it's so familiar but I can't match it with a name!

You know, Alfas are not my best field of expertise... Can you help me, please, to identify the car on the right? Picture taken at the 1948 Turin Motor Show, if it can help.

I've never seen this one... obviously it should be a 2500, and looking at the cars on the side maybe by Ghia...

The 2 cars in the middle are by Vignale (Fiat 1100 & Lancia Aprilia). But I don't believe that the fourth is also Vignale (no reference of any Vignale Ala 6C) whilst the first should be Fiat 1100 by Francis Lombardi. So a mixed display.
I tought it would have been easy... But if you don-t know either, it justifies why I spend a whole evening without results...

I thought I had posted this here before but apparently I did not.

This is a 1939 Chevrolet limousine/hire car/taxi from Sweden.  It is said to be one of a small series built by a
Swedish coach builder.  One example was supposed to have been supplied to the Swedish Royal Family fleet.

Note... It is not a normal Chevrolet Imperial!!

The front door seems to come from a 4 door sedan of that year, the middle passenger door is identical to the Imperial model of that year but the rear window is identical to the 2 door coach of that year and much larger than that found on the Imperial.

I am trying to help a Swedish fellow who's friend owns the car and wishes to restore it.  They would like to know who built it originally.  It ended it's service in Middle Sweden as a school bus but no one seems to know anything about it and I have
posted the photos on a number of sites with no result.

Perhaps one of our coach builder experts or one of our Swedish members can tell us more about the car.

Thanks for any assistance.

Bill

Cheers
Bill

No Sir:

Other photos show a body plate "Body by Fisher" and other indications of "General Motors Nordiska AB".

Definitely a 1939 Chevrolet, one of a very few bodied by this as yet unknown body builder.
