Hi
We are going to transfer AutoPuzzles to a new server. Therefore AutoPuzzles will be stopped next evening/next morning (to be precise: 32 hours from the time of this post). It will take about 12-14 hours to do the necessary work and then we can continue our favorite activity!
___________
UPDATE: 22 November, 2012. The site has been transferred. There may be some issues, like the search doesn't work properly. We'll do our best to fix these quickly. Please be patient - I am in Central Europe, my brother is in Canada
-
I'm here. Looks good. Are we completely alive yet?

___________
The new site is up and running, but testing is a bit tricky.
Do we have to do that otherwise the site won't work?
I'm still posting and seeing new posts without having done it, but the Search doesn't work at all..
-
I think I have done all that and seach still gives me:
Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator.
-
You do not have to modify the hosts file - that was for testing only.
If you the forum, then you are okay.
Please report any issues. We will look into the search soon. And one more thing: if you see a missing post or photo - let me know.
-
Search is working properly now.
-
My time is 6 hours fast...
-
Aaron:
Just go to your settings/preferences page and put in a -6 in the time block. Works fine.
-
My time is 6 hours fast...
Wow, and mine is finally right!
(always been to lazy to fix it!)
-
The site now resides in Germany so the forum time reflects GMT +1. Previously the site was in North America, where the time was GMT -6 (or -7).
All preferences were left intact - so if your forum clock is too fast/too slow - follow Bill's advice
-
And again one more thing. Hosting now costs EUR 25/month (about US$32). This is a dedicated server, not just some disc space at a provider.
We've got 400 Gb of space (currently the AutoPuzzles database is about 14 Gb)
Automuseums.info will be transferred here as well, but it won't effect the speed.
All hail my brother :)

Grazie, Grazie e Grazie! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Wonderful! Thank you!

Excellent work Pal and your brother :applause: :applause:
-
We were on a virtual dedicated server before. That said, the conversion appears to have hon smoothly. Very nice work, gentlemen.
-
Oh, I see. Sorry, I was under the wrong impression. But yes, it seems the transition went smoothly - thanks for your quick work
-
Brilliant!
All seems to work perfectly.
Well done Pal.

On the front page of the web site, most links connect to the wrong puzzle.

The mail notification for received messages does not work, although in my profile
"Notify by email every time you receive a personal message" is set to "Always".

Working on it
-
Keep up the good work guys. The stuff yer fightin now is the small stuff. You've got the big part of it done and very quickly, I might add. Great stuff!
-
I agree with Ray, though in a slightly different accent!
By now the size of the data stored on this site must be huge (and it's a useful resource for many of us) which must bring its own problems anyway, let alone when moving the site.

It has to work properly now
-
I see that some photos have disappeared during the transfer. Please let me know if you see any issues, we'll try to find them
-
Someone figured out the FTP password and hacked the site. FTP access is banned for now and the site has been restored
-
Had a similar issue on my site the other day. It seems they target a specific FTP transfer programm. Don't save the PW on it and change the PW and you should be ok. (A checkup on your virus scanner might be prudent though)
-
The site could use a tech guy who is familiar with or willing to learn UNIX, SMF and PHP.
Anyone?

I am the only one where the 'small picture column' is no longer visible?
No... me too!
-
Nope, same here. As well, the country of residence is also gone for the moment.
Without seeming to complain, I hope the photos return, it is almost impossible to remember older posts if you did not bookmark them, which I do not do. I know nothing about programming these forums but I hope it can be prioritized.
Good Luck Team!!!!!!!
Bill
-
Hope the site will return to its former state. Having the pictures made it all perfect.
-
I agree. Not having the small picture column available makes the board very user-unfriendly. Hopefully it can be fixed soon. :)
-
This is what the whole site used to be like up to about 3 years ago - no thumbnails at all!
Believe everything will in time be restored to how it was, it's just a matter of doing it one thing at a time.
Hopefully we'll be back to normal fairlly soon.
-
I've put over 7 years in here and all I got was my friends driven off and an empty pocket.
http://www.simplemachines.org/
Perhaps one of you gentlemen can bone up on the software and take the tech guy reins. I'm very busy, very tired and mostly disinterested.
-
I'm trying to address the thumbnail issue. I've found what I think is the right mod on the SMS forum, but I have some ways to go before knowing how and where to add it. I don't want to muck anything up by installing it incorrectly.
I hope our members can bide their time and muddle through.
Onward, and upward.

In the early days of AP there weren't any thumbs at all and still we managed to solve some puzzles... (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g106/pan1968/Gifs/fe65c068.gif) (http://s54.photobucket.com/user/pan1968/media/Gifs/fe65c068.gif.html)

The thumbnail feature is the tool of the devil! My car gets 40 rods to the hogshead, and that's the way I likes it!
-
Ultra, you've been doing yeoman duty, and both of you guys have made an exceptional site. Thanks for the hard work.
Good luck, Otto.
-
FWIW, it was late and I'm sure the current tech guy, Pal's first class brother, was tired of trying to fix the site, via Skype, with an amateur like me.
That said, though my suggestion might have been poorly timed when first offered, IMHO, the site should be updated to SMF 2.3? I think it's 2.3 anyway.
Long story short, I'm not a pro, I just made it work as I went. That seems to frustrate pros and makes it difficult to communicate.
I'm not rejecting the site and I will be happy to help, but I am very busy this time of year, my stepdads health is poor, and I don't want to be the responsible party for this update. Assisting isn't a problem, however.
Sometimes, I'm just a prickly ass.
-
With Pal's brothers generous assistance, we have been upgraded to SMF 2.0.4
Now we have to find and load the packages that give us the functionality we seek.
Packages will load now that we have SMF 2.0.4, Otto. I'm gonna let you take a look at and install whichever ones you choose. If any other admins wanna install packages as well, be my guest. We need to get these additions done in about a week so that we can then take steps to increase the security of the site.
Have at it boys, and be sure to send Pal thanks as a proxy for his brother. He was invaluable tonight.
-
Great job! ;D Good luck with additional packages!
-
Looks pretty good so far.
Very well done those who putting in a huge amount of work.
Looking forward to the finished article!
-
Thank you for all your effort! I can't imagine going ahead without Autopuzzles. :nerves:

Packages are loading now. However, attachments aren't thumbnailing...

I would like to suggest small CSS change:
.windowbg2 img {max-width: 300px; height: auto; margin: 10px;}

Do you have access to autopuzzles.com/forum/Themes/default/css/index.css? Just add it to index.css (best edit with Notepad or other simple txt editor).

I know how to do and did that already once. The issue is it won't let it change the file.
You looking to be a tech guy?

The issue is it won't let it change the file.
What do you mean by that? Are you trying to do it via FTP or SMF Admin Panel?

;-) Chalk one up for the amateur.
Thanks, Ecnelis. I got it working with your tip.

Great job, please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

I am still not at home, but finally I managed to get better internet access. I am very happy that my brother helped us. He's really good at his field - did I tell you one of my favorite stories about him? About two years ago, he had some free time so he put out some ads that if there's a problem with Drupal he can help... A company contacted him, flew him over to Munich, put him in a five-star hotel, paid him a hefty retainer for a two day job. But he saved the day (and the company). Luckily, though he's younger, he's very supportive. If I am enthusiastic about a project, he devotes some resources to assist me. So that's how he ended up here. He's not registered on AP and won't be any time soon. He's just helping here and there.
I hope the site will be okay for now
-
Great job guys! :applause: :applause: :applause:
Only some silly questions (probably already in progress):
Is it standard now that attached pics are displayed as thumbs only which have to be opened with an extra editor? (Wouldn't be that handy for photo features..)
Will there be a quick reply editor again?
-
Please don't forget to uncheck the 'post a redirection topic' box.
-
Thanks you all for the work to help autopuzzles!! :hail:

I am only making observations here, not complaining and as well, no one else seems to have commented on what I am getting on my screens.
Whenever I open up any of the three primary threads, Rookie/Expert/Pro, the photo images I get are the size they were originally posted, not thumbnails.
Some cover the entire page and I have to resize the screen to see what is there and who posted it.
The country of residence of the poster is also missing.
I use both a Mac and a regular PC to access the site. I have "unregistered" and "reregistered" on both machines, still the same. I have rebooted both machines, still the same.
I have also accessed the site of the internet again on both machines, still the same. I use Google Chrome on one machine as the browser and can use AOL on the other, still the same.
So, is it just me, or is the thumbnail thingie still a work in progress.
Also let me add my thanks for all the hard work of all involved. I have been on various forums since 1999 and have seen many crashes and know how difficult it is to recover sometimes.
Cheers
Bill

Same problem here.
And once again, thanks also from my side!

Have you tried to clean browsers cache? Or just try to refresh site couple of times (F5, Crtl+R, Crlt+F5)...
Is it standard now that attached pics are displayed as thumbs only which have to be opened with an extra editor? (Wouldn't be that handy for photo features..)
Looks like another CSS-related issue.
Request to admins: little change in index.css should fix this:
.windowbg2 img {max-width: 150px; height: auto; margin: 10px;} ----> td.windowbg2 img {max-width: 150px; height: auto; margin: 10px;}

Strange browsers - works fine in Safari on a MAC, and on an iPad!
-
How about logo with transparent background insted of current, gray one? ;)
-
FANTASTIC JOBS GUYS!
-
Transparent logo is uploaded.
I need a list of the mods you guys want me to add. Then I'll sit down and jam it out.

Same problem here.
And once again, thanks also from my side!
And here too. They aren't thumbnails at all but are squeezed into a picture about 2 cm wide and 20 cm tall..
But whilst the actual puzzle picture is fine once the thread is opened any further pictures posted in the thread are again squeezed way out of proportion so are impossible to view..
Is there something I can do with my settings to correct this?
Otherwise a terrific job has been done, but clearly many of us are finding the pictures very hard to view which makes it quite difficult to follow. There must be a way to address this!
-
Carnut, have you tried clearing your cache and cookies? Will you let me know if that makes a difference?
-
I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, I support this Forum as much as anybody, but........
I am fortunate/unfortunate in having both a Mac and a PC in the same home, albeit two "stories" apart which with my rheumatism is a bit of a pain to switch back and forth.
On the Mac, using Safari, now the three main threads all seem to work as they did before more or less.
However, on other threads, Fenders & Skirts for example, the photo size seems to default to "thumbnail" and all photos are of that size. Same thing on other threads.
On other threads, whose names I forgot to write down, pics have now gone missing that I know were there a week or so ago.
On either machine, using Google Chrome, I have the same situation as Carnut. The "thumbnails" have now become "palm print" size and as he says once you open up the puzzle it is displayed in it's original posted size. In the case of a 3000x1200 pic, it takes up the whole screen and then some for the image.
I cannot tell you how to fix it or I would, but having been on so many Forums over the years, this is not an uncommon problem of finding and installing the proper commands and most current Forums have instruction to adapt to both the Mac and PC environments and certainly the top 5 or so most common browsers.
As regards the clearing of my cache and cookies, please, but no thanks. I belong to well over 100 sites dealing with research, the hobby, business etc.
In most all cases, I have my user name and password "saved" on the sites and I have not had to remember and type in such in some cases for years and they are not all the same and I have long ago forgotten some of them. You also lose a lot of other stuff on every site tied to that browser when you clear and clean. Been there, done that.
Please do not get angry with me as an individual here, I understand your frustrations and I am trying to be informative and as helpful as I can. But...in the end, the Forum was properly formatted/programmed before and it can be again to serve both Macs and Pcs and the most popular browsers and I hope we can get back to that situation.
With Total Respect and Support.

Cookies can be cleared by individual site in my browser. YMMV. That's what fixed it for me.
-
With Firefox and Chrome I have the same (strange) problem... in all the threads I see the pictures of odd posts as normal-size and the picture of even posts like thumbnails... :o
-
Cookies can be cleared by individual site in my browser. YMMV. That's what fixed it for me.
I can only see how to delete them all so am a bit reluctant to do that as I, too, don't have a note of all the different passwords to various sites like facebook etc etc. (They all started out the same but get changed for various reasons with the passage of time..)
I do a lot of my AP browsing on my computer at work so I'll see what it looks like there first before I make the rash move of deleting all my cookies!
Thanks for the advice anyway!
-
No problem at home (Firefox browser), but at work I have the sky high, but narrow thumbnails. Even clearing the cache and deleting cookies didn't help.
-
Just for the general info guys
clearing cookies worked for me, using Chrome on Vista Ultimate and Win7
am liking the new site, well done all
-
I don't know if this happens to others, too, but always when I post a reply I get thrown out of the topic. I'm on the next level above then (Expert-, Rookie-, Professional board).
-

If and when you manage to sort it out can you let me know how?
I'm on my computer at work now and it's all perfect - a brilliant job by the techies!
Thumbnails are all the right size, photos within threads are the right size. So clearly it's a problem with my settings at home; if clearing the cookies and cache didn't do it for you then I'm reluctant to go down that route, but it does need sorting and I can't off-hand think of anything else I can do.. Would therefore welcome your advice.
I haven't noticed Allemano's problem but if it comes I'll report it.

Profile ----> Modify Profile -----> Look And Layout ----> Return to topics after posting by default.
AFAIR this might be also set default for every user in Admin Panel... or maybe not?
-
In the list of forum topics, is it possible to use fixed-width thumbnail images (as used before the "update")? As shown by the current SOLVED listings, a single large image can make the topic list unreadable.
-
In the list of forum topics, is it possible to use fixed-width thumbnail images (as used before the "update")?
But it is like that already (see attachment). Try to clear your browser's cache or refresh page more than once (F5, Crtl+F5, Crtl+R).

Some seem to be getting that already and some not (I do on my work computer but not on my home one).
Still waiting for someone to give me the fix (must be a Settings thing somewhere along the line..?)
-
FWIW..........
It works in Safari on my Mac.
I just downloaded Safari on my HP PC, something I did not know was possible, thought it was exclusive to Apple products. It now works on my PC as well.
While it is a "work around" solution and requires extra steps, I am going to leave it that way for now.
Would be nice to see the country of residence added back in.
Bill
-
F5 refresh did the trick
-
I know nothing about computers.........
Do you do the F5 routine while on this forum only or do you do it when you open your browser and are on the opening page??
Bill
-
I did F5 in the list of forum topics. Unfortunately, the fix does not seem to "stick". I just went back to the list of Solved puzzles, and the non-thumbnail (large) images were present again.
-
I found a button on my toolbar right next to the "Refresh" button marked "Compatability View". It converts pictures so that they appear correctly on older hardware. I clicked on that and Bingo! Suddenly all the pictures were the right size, thumbnails etc etc!
So all in now perfect; well done lads!

That helped here, too.
But what are all those medals about?

The medals take up too much space..

Where are my medals? WHERE ARE MY MEDALS!!!!!!! ;D

I added a bunch of mods and functionality to the forum last night.
Anyone notice? Any thoughts?

I noticed the Front Page button. That's nice.
The photobucket shortcut is rather useless to me, but might appeal to others.
What bothers me is the phenomenon, that attached pictures are displayed full size in the initial post and all replies with even numbers, but appear as thumbnails in the odd-numbered replies. You can see that in my Wendax 922 puzzle where I attached the same picture in three consecutive posts: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=25030

This is all so much appreciated, thank you for bringng the updates! If I could be of any use (as much as a man who knows almost nothing about computers could be), tell me.
-
I added a bunch of mods and functionality to the forum last night.

My activity has been light the last couple of days. The parts I've touched seem to be working well today.
Lots of spam right after the change (I banned quite a few and deleted their posts). I haven't seen any today; it seems you addressed that.
The last puzzles I moved required me to clear the "post a redirect" box. I spent a fair bit of time deleting the "this post has moved" auto-posts. I haven't seen any today, so I guess you fixed that, too.
I haven't posted pics today, but some of the previously posted pics do look small, while others are as posted, as others have noted.
All-in-all, great strides have been made in a short period.

Sizing issues are gonna present headaches and as I am not suffering them its gon a be tough. I think we should try and get Ecnelis in the team to help with that gem.
There are some new tidbits thrown in around the forum. I'm winding down on this upgrade. Each and every editor is more than capable of uploading mod packages. Jump in, read a little and make your mods.

I will add what I am experiencing in the most logical manner I can think of.
Computer #1: Hewlett Packard PC Windows 7 OS.
1. Using Google Chrome as the browser to access AP is useless.
The images are more or less the same size as the original poster put up and the posting information is on the right side rather than on the left which is much easier to read. This is when you open a section and before you select a specific post.
2. Using Safari as the browser to access AP is functionally almost back to where it was in Mid May before the "problems".
If nothing else is done, as far as I can see it would work almost as before except I lost the scrolling feature on the mouse but that is probably something I have to fix.
Computer #2 Mac with Lion or whatever it is called OS.
1. Using Google Chrome as the browser to access AP is better but still problematic. The images are smaller but still of various sizes based on the size the original poster put up. Posting information is still on the right.
2. Using Safari as the browser to access AP is almost 100% back to the situation prevailing in Mid May and my mouse also works. I do have to enlarge the screen display "X 3" every time I return to the site but that is probably a setting issue here.
Other:
As everyone else experienced I guess, I had dozens of medals for a few hours early today and as I use my city, state and country as my country of residence, I got to know the temperature and local time in Atlanta, Ga. I think I also saw Linz, Austria and a couple of others like that. I guess if you just use the country alone it did not pick it up. Both of these items have now gone away.
I have not tried to post a photo yet and that is my next task. I will try to post on each computer and on each browser and see what works.
Other than mouse settings and maybe display settings, I am not, repeat not going to fiddle around with cookies, caches, refreshing or whatever. I am very poor with computers, even when I get advice, the advisor assumes I know "steps 1 through 10" and starts me at "step 11" and everything crashes. I then have to spend $250 for some "Home Computer Service" to come to the house and try to straighten out the mess. This has happened 4 times over the years and I don't want it again.
I will wait to see how much gets fixed vis a vis PC and Mac and if the fixes cover the major browsers. If nothing else happens, I can use Safari, preferably on the Mac.
Hope that helps.
Bill

Please don't get me wrong. I really appreciate all your efforts to get this forum going again. Especially as I don't have any skills in this kind of programming.
But it seems to me that this bug isn't fixed yet. I just tried another reply at Wendax 922 and the picture appears as thumbnail again. Or does the change only work for new topics?
-
I do find the same problem when posting further pictures within threads.
The one when first posting a new topic is fine - right size and it appears as a thumbnail on the whole page.
But then posting a picture, say, when the puzzle is solved it only appears as a thumbnail.
Maybe I'm stupid and I've already been told how to put that right, but can anyone explain in more layman's terms how to correct that and post jpg pictures within threads that are the same size as those in my picture files?
That's the only real bug I have left on my side, although as has been said elsewhere it would be nice to have the AutoPuzzlers' domain country shown again!
-
That was done about 20 minutes after you first posted it.
Are you 1000% sure? I wouldn't repeat myself if I would seen it done... and I do not see it done...
http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/Themes/default/css/index.css has no fix:

It must not have saved correctly. I'll do it again when I get home.

It was done when I got home, just as I said it was.
td.windowbg2 img {max-width: 300px; height: auto; margin: 10px;}
Edited P.S.
I had edited into the style.css, not the index.css. Hopefully, it is fixed now.
-
Now it works. Great job!
-
I see the problem with thumbnails instead of images is solved now, great, thanks!
I'd like to ask though, will new PMs be seen now like they were before? The notification row no more exists, so will the new ones be shown in line with the major buttons (Home/Help/...) near 'My Messages' button?

Yes!

That's why it didn't worked - as far as I can see only index.css is used on the site, not the style.css. :)

One or two puzzlers (including me) have mentioned that they'd like to see the puzzlers' country of residence back in.
Actually during the changes all those seem to have vanished from the Personal Profiles. If individuals go into their profiles and enter it again then it will be displayed alongside their posts. I've done that and as you can see it's there again for all to see!
-
Yes!
Thanks! By a coincidence already saw that in action :)
And thanks, Carnut! Will add my info again.

It was picked up from something in our profiles that was there anyway (either "location" or e-mail address I suppose) - I never entered it as such and I can see nowhere that I could do so.

It's on the "Modify Profile" page, where one adds a profile picture, etc. I've added UK to your profile for you. Let me know if you'd like me to remove it. :)

I'm going to have to gen up a bit on my knowledge of flags now though!
-
What's happened to the Autopuzzles clock ? It's 5 hours wrong by GMT. Or is it just me?
-
You are correct.
I just went to the settings page and clicked on auto detect and it corrected itself at least here in my time zone.
There appear to be some random "hiccups" once in a while. I had to reset the notification field two days ago as the forum stopped notifying me.

I reset the clock to match the timezone of the guy who admins all the software and owns the site.
Me.
Adjust accordingly.

It threw me too earlier this evening but I adjusted mine as I figured something had happened.
I thought you were in California, Ultra?
I note the stars for the length of time puzzlers have been Members too.
Any other goodies coming along?!

Michigan boy, born and bred. NE lower peninsula.
Otto and I are from the same state, met via forum a decade ago and started this place over 7 years ago.
We have never met.
Michigan is a big state.
-
I'm going to have to gen up a bit on my knowledge of flags now though!
Not necessary! I see if you hold your cursor over the flag it tells you the country.
This is a very sophisticated site now!
-
Michigan is a big state.
Aha, yes. I've been - I have a friend lives in Rochester Hills (and worked in Detroit). Visited the Meadowbrook Hall concours d'elegance.
My son just returned last month from a year at Michigan State University in East Lansing too, so he's given me the run-down on it after visiting a bit of it, from the north shore down to Detroit and over to neighbouring state Illinois. Sorry I didn't get to visit him whilst he was there though. Another time!
-
I went to MSU for four years.
Grew up in the Metro Detroit area. Grandma lived in Rochester. Been to Meadowbrook. We have quite a bit in common.
-
I don't want to nitpick here, I'm just very happy that the site is back in full force, but:
- I just noticed that the subtle 'Autopuzzles' watermark is no longer present.
- A nice addition for the stats would also be a list with the amount of points that each member scored.

Quite so. I look forward to discussing further over a bottle of single malt should I ever make it back to Michigan!
-
I do enjoy my single malts...
I'm not gonna put the watermark back unless pressured to do so. I'll look into the points thing.

The top 15 Puzzle Point getters are now listed in the Stats section of the board.

Fascinating!
Since the details in the Member Profile includes the number of points they have, I'm surprised it's not included in the List of Members; if it was then just clicking on a 'No. of Points' heading would sort all members in order of the number of points they have... Is that something that would be easy to include?

On the stats page there's a Life of Top Karma. Karma equals points

Yes I know, but only the Top 15 points scorers.
If it was a heading in the Members section you could see the points situation of the entire membership at a glance?

That application doesn't wanna install. Try and make do with this one.
-
On the stats page there's a Life of Top Karma. Karma equals points
Oh that's what it means - thought it was US-spelling either for Khama (as in Seretse Khama, first president of Botswana) or Kama (as in Kama Sutra) but could seen no relevance in either (or Karma of course). :-\
Why does it have to be in code?
-
Why does it have to be in code?
Because our Puzzle Points system is based on a forum function called Karma. For me to edit the HTML and change the new modification to read Puzzle Points is doable, but it is a bit of work and editing HTML has inherent risks that can lead to other, major errors.
Hence, according to one table buried deep on our stats page, Paul Jaray has a lot of good Karma.
Hope that helps.

Will there be a quick reply editor again?
The Quick Reply settings are now controlled individually in your user profile settings under Look and Layout. You can turn it on for yourself, as well as other features, if you like.
-
I don't know if this happens to others, too, but always when I post a reply I get thrown out of the topic. I'm on the next level above then (Expert-, Rookie-, Professional board).
Another setting you set for yourself in your Profile/Look and Layout section.
-
Thank you. Meanwhile I figured it out with support of Ecnelis...
-
Well folks, I've made lots of changes, big and little, to this site. Some of you may have noticed some of the new changes like Board notifications and a few others. Also tried to clean up user info within a post.
This all said, I do believe the board mods are done for awhile now. I continue to turn on people's country flag if they aren't on and it is a requirement for registration now. I encourage the other admins to turn on people's country flags as well.
Ciao and enjoy the AutoPuzzles experience.
-
It's excellent and a decided improvement.
Good work and well worthwhile!

Inline attachments are now an option for use here at AutoPuzzles.
[attachimg=1]
Read all about it here:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2481
-
You can even set the width of your inline images so that they fit the screen.
[attachimg=1 width=500]
I think this could be a real boon to the look and layout of the site.
-
I'm getting "Database Error. Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator." while trying to add a point here: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=25415.0
-
I'm having the same problem. When I click the "add" button to award a point, this appears:

-
We all are incl the Admins, but we have a way around it.
Send me the details of who you want to award a point to and I'll do it for you until the fix comes along!
-
Problem fixed (sorry my brother was travelling and I could only get hold of him now)
-
Excellent!
-
thanks for the technical description, it took 2 minutes to fix it

Hello. I'm on my holiday right now and I'm using my cellphone to stay on-line and there is funny thing... I'm getting this message while trying to use AutoPuzzles:
"Sorry Ecnelis, you are banned from using this forum!
This ban is not set to expire."
This message was sent via anonymouse.org so... my mobile operator's IP is blocked (it's 5.60.208.234)?
-
I already had it sometimes in the past, and it just happened again. When visiting Autopuzzles (and the forum) the following webpage pops up. After refreshing a couple of times, the normal pages are present again. Reason?
-
Hi,
I posted this in another section but I had no feedback about it... what do you think about adding a "tag" system to the puzzles?
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=135761.0
This is the only part I understand:
http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=579
seems to be quite simple and very useful!
-
It could be great to classify the solved puzzles...
-
Just a thought the big problem with tagging stuff (as I know from bitter experience) is when someone adds a tag in which is almost the same as an existing one - I.e. Spelling convertible as convertable. Both tags become valid but the misspelled tag hides the information from search results.
Incidentally there are whole sites devoted to looking for mistakes like this on eBay.
-
AutoPuzzles will again be stopped for maintenance over the next weekend (19/20 July). Don't panic, it will come back, it is just being moved to a new, faster server
