Dean Ancel?
« on: December 10, 2018, 12:23:58 PM »
The hubcap reads "Dean" and the front appears to read "Ancel," but I have been unable to find out any further information regarding this car I spotted in Japan.  Does anyone know what it is?

Here's a close up of the hubcap, which appears to read "Dean."  Given the Ancel model name, I am wondering if this is a Renault?

The car is based on the Nissan Rasheen (pictured below), a special limited production built by Nissan's Pike Factory, which also created the celebrated Nissan Be-1, Pao, S-Cargo and Figaro for the domestic Japanese market.

Thanks for the replies and information.  Thanks to the replies, I've spotted one listed for sale, although they pitch it as a Nissan Rasheen:

https://www.japanesecartrade.com/3163900-japan-used-nissan-rasheen-4wd-%26amp%3Bamp%3B-suv-1996.html

(You'll note the front grill reads "Ancel" and is distinct from the the straight Nissan version.  So I guess it's a rebadged Rasheen.  I guess the "Dean" on the hubcaps, might refer to nothing more than the hubcap maker.

Actually, it looks like the modification of the Rasheen was by a company in Yokohama:

As I've just posted in another thread, the 'Ancel' name belongs to DAMD. DAMD modifies vehicles and also produces aftermarket parts for other modifiers. Blooom sells used Racines, some of which Blooom modifies with bumpers, lights, etc from various aftermarket producers. DAMD is one of these producers, and so some of the products installed by Blooom are labeled as 'Ancel'. As an example, here is a product shown on the Blooom website:
