KIV-21 (I for Innovative) ?

Yes, exactly!
Just need to know who was responsible for it now...

Unfortunately there's nothing online about this concept so I'm afraid I'll have to give up.

Or can the designer be found online even if his car can't ?

Carnut

I don't think he can, no; I haven't been able to find anything out about his career at Kia, if he had one.
So I've given you a point and I think we'll call it solved.
I'll leave it where it is for the moment in case someone finds they have the same book I have (and it's quite likely some AutoPuzzlers have since it was a popular series of soft or hard-backed books) but if no-one does then I'll move it to solved eventually.

do you know when this competition was in 1986
or do you know the date of the 1987 publication you found the info in?

Carnut

The competition was the RCA Degree Show of 1986 and the publication was the 'Winter 1987' one, which was published in January 1987.
