"In 1983, Dandong Automobile Modification Plant was renamed Dandong Automobile Manufacturing Plant, which indicates that the focus of the factory's work has shifted from automobile modification to automobile design and manufacturing. In 1985, with the approval of China Automobile Corporation (85) Zhongji Zi No. 537, Dandong Bus Research Institute was established to undertake technical research work in the bus industry. At the beginning of the establishment of the bus research institute, it will focus on the design of similar products in the foreign bus industry, and improve the body design of DD650/680 buses. In view of the problems of the original model, such as the small area of the front and rear windshield and side windows, the transition of the large rounded corners of the body and the rough interior, the customer research institute cooperated with the factory to complete the design improvement in the short term, and launched the DD650G/DD680G large bus, which increased the height of the front windshield from 840mm to 1100mm, and the size of the rear windshield was increased and formed as a whole, and the side windows were doubled compared with the original DD680 long-distance bus, and the overall shape of the body was changed to a square tone and a small rounded transition. The indoor facilities have also been improved in accordance with the large buses of the same period abroad, and the seats with high backrest angle are added. In 1985, the G-type bus completed all the tooling design and production line transformation, and was put into mass production in 1986, with an annual production capacity of 1,500 units."
