Driver Training Brooklyn, NY 1953
« on: October 14, 2015, 08:33:52 AM »
This is a real photo, not a made up one and while not supposed to be humorous, I found it so.

Taken at a Brooklyn, NY High School in 1953.
For we Americans, note that all the boys wore suits and the girls wore long dresses!!!

There was no real commentary with the photo but I gather it was too dangerous to have them do the training out on the streets.  In my day (Class of 1957), we had two days of classroom training which was mainly films and I believe 6 driving sessions in 2 Chevrolet cars donated by the local Dealer.

It's an Aetna Drivotrainer and I have posted a link below about the system.
You can also use Google Image Search for the same thing and get lots more different photos as well as photos of competing machines.
