Who Likes Wine?
« on: October 02, 2008, 03:08:10 AM »
Tonight I am drinking a lovely Peter Lehman of the Barossa 2005 Shiraz.  Inexpensive, fruit forward, with a crisp finish.  Flavors of plum, raisins and chocolate infuse the texture and the wine finishes cleanly on the palate.  A real bargain for those of you who enjoy a drier red.

The spelling is the same but Peter Lehmann is an Australian and not related to the bank that is named similarly.

Queen of Clubs is the symbol of the winery.

I like Australian reds.  The dry heat, somewhat like the Central Valley concentrates the sugars of the fruit.

Zins, Shiraz, Merlot (especially) enjoy this type of climate.  My fav. red lately is Barbera as far as varietals.

I had a 2000 Bordeaux on Labor Day.  The best Bordeaux I've ever had.  Usually I am a Shiraz and Zin man myself but that wine was superb.

Great deal right now is Bogle's Phantom.

That is wine, or juice with alcohol? :)

Got a wooden crate case of Hayman & Hill 2006 Meritage reserve selection out of Monterey yesterday.  Packaging is outstanding.  Wine is just good.  Makes a nice addition to the cellar and I think it will age well.

34% Cab Sauvignon
31% Malbec
16% Merlot
14% Petite Verdot
5% Cab Franc
