These are some pix I took of the storm that blew through town Tuesday evening:

The street in front of my house:





Just a foot bridge over street drainage:








A couple of gravel roads, just outside the neighborhood:











A major 4-lane road and water rescue:





Nearby river, usually not more than a few feet deep and about 30' below the bridge:

Kind of makes the 105* temps and <10% humidity seem not-so bad.

We haven't seen 95 this year, yet...

Such a strange year for weather. I certainly didn't move here for triple digit temps. It was so bad today I had to hide out in the basement -- the 1st floor was above 90* INSIDE. Hell, the normal high for this time of year is in the upper 70s. Not to mention the non-winter we had this year. Montananites (not sure of the proper term so I just made that up) can deal with -20 no problem, but people wither and die when it's above 90 outside.

It doesn't help that my house is in direct sunlight all day. Even with the shades drawn, lights off, and fans running, it's brutal.

We've had a bit of rain up here in Kansas as well, maybe you all saw the pics around Coffeyville?

We've had low to mid 90's for a month now, along with 90% humidity just for fun........

I should have pulled the trigger last week -- I was *this* close to picking up a nice 6000 BTU Samsung at Lowe's. Now, every store between here and Seattle is sold out.

We're back in the 80s for a couple of days, but the heat is supposed to be back with a vengeance later this week. Just in time for my camping trip this weekend and Indian Days in Browning. They're on the high plains, so if it's 100 here, it'll be 110 there. For those keeping score at home, Saturday was the hottest day ever recorded in Missoula, at 107*F. To put that in perspective, the average high is in the upper 70s. Now we're worried the trout population may crash; the low water levers and high temps are a 1-2 punch. They're putting fishing restrictions in place, but it may not be enough.

Lifelong Missoulians are absolutely baffled. Nobody has ever experienced a year like this, from the astoundingly mild winter to the heavy rainfall in early June to the heatwave last week. Something really big is happening here.
