That is just so hilarious. I understand more or less everything - if you know Norwegian, German, and English, Dutch isn't that hard to get - when written. When spoken, it's just a mish-mash of guttural sounds ;)

I don't much fancy any kind of fish myself. I did go fishing for salmon once, though. Now, there's a kick! Got one, not with a fly, but with a regular spinner, from the riverbank. Amazing! Naturally, I had to eat that one, and it didn't taste too bad.

Oh, gross.

In my family, the traditional Christmas dinner (on Christmas eve) is cod. I eat something else, though.

But on Christmas Day, we have turkey. The culinary highlight of the year.

When I was young me and my parents often visited Colijnsplaat a small fishing port in Zeeland/NL. There was a small shack where they sold 'garnaalen', gerookte paling (smoked eel), nieuwe matjes haring etc.. I've never tasted any fish of that quality again.

I love eel.  Horrific sounding, perhaps, but a good eat nevertheless.  Had some very tasty preparations in Korea too.

And, frankly, not to brag, just passing on information from previous g-friends....I guess I'm known for my smok'n Chub also.

"Previous girlfriends" sounds exactly like women who no longer wish to have anything to do with you sexually.  And you believe what they told you about your smokin' chub?  :shakehead:

Just pass'n the luv of the smok'n chub.

Besides, the best way to break off a relationship is to always blame yourself "....it's not you, it's ME".  Possibly the best line evar invented for the serial monogamist and holder of classically defined, traditional moralist relationships.  Tho some of my gay friends have used the line too, not surprisingly.

A person can only have so many “serious” relationships before they get hitched, no?

Unless he continues to share his chub in spite of traditional Christian marital vows?

Blame for being single?  More than a few would consider being "single" a celebration, most being female.  No one is truly "single" anyway.  Everyone owns somebody and in turn, they are owned by someone else.  It's all about sharing the luv for the chub.   8)

A really good alternative to the long process of smoking Salmon is to prepare it on wood Cedar planks over open charcoal.  The best!  Probably though getting the Salmon and the planks might be difficult.  When the Salmon "run" here in California it's quite the sight.  They swim in from the ocean, up the delta, through the different tributaries, ultimately some reach as high as Lake Tahoe to breed.

I could see them making it up the Truckee, but over the dam?

It's gonna be a dark Christmas here. I've had to cut and cut my staff this year (from 22 to 6). Yesterday, I was told my entire division would be cut another 40%. I will have to interview for the job I already have, and I am:

  • The newest manager in the department
  • Hundreds of miles from the bosses with whom I should have curried more favor
  • Supporting a customer in the financial services sector - which I ironically selected as being more secure than the Auto industry, which I supported before

I will know my fate in the next week or two.  :(

You always manage to come through these things, I have faith you will do so now also.

Best of to you and yours this holiday.  If you need anything, let me know.
