I had a disco era Z28 so I know all about long doors. My Dad's Taurus (at the time) tried to kill me once. Driving down the highway and the power seats moves all by its self to the closest position crushing my legs. Pulled over, extracted myself, moved seat back and gingerly drove the rest of the way without a further incident.

Talk about your weird car stories...once I opened my car door on an incline, reached over to pick up something on the seat, and started to get out of the car only to get my head caught between the top of the car and the window...the door swung back to close as I was getting out.  It was an '81 Dodge Mirada with frameless glass, and it almost broke my neck.  Honest.

Boy, was that a car...killer looks, leather seats, 3500lbs with an 85 hp Slant-Six...and looonnng, heavy doors.

Dan

You know, I've never actually seen a Dodge Mirada. Sometimes I suspect that cars like that were just made up by the older generation to scare us youngins.

Once in a blue moon they'll show up on EBay, usually with a 440 stuffed under the hood, or rusty enough you can see through them...Chrysler built them from 1980-1983 as an anti-Cutlass Supreme.  Mine was probably the most unreliable car I ever owned...kept it 5 years  and only put 50,000 miles on it. Couldn't keep an exhaust system or front brakes on it, the trunk hinges broke because the automatic opener would literally shoot the lid open so hard that if you stuck a rock on the closed trunk and opened it from inside, you ran a serious risk of busting your own windshield.  Andd those !!!**&@&**!! doors...

And I forgot to mention that my ex father-in-law and I had to put a new rearend in it.  Tightening spring bolts is fun...also, had to replace the catalyst right after I bought it...at 25,000 miles...the cat was clogged, and backpressure from the exhaust was blowing up through the carburetor, making a shreiking noise when I hit the gas.  The engine got so down on power that it could hardly climb a moderate hill in Marion, IN [just a river bluff...]; and I was on a double date.  Very embarrassing...

AMC sold 671,475 Gremlins. Dodge sold 53,000 Miradas. The Aspen/Volare roots weren't buried deep enough.  ;)

I never drove on of those.

I was watching part of the Stingray marathon last night, until the wife put on yet another one of her forensics shows. She watches the documentary  and the 'ripped from today's headlines' dramas. I call the latter 'corpse operas'.

I'd be happy to watch a forensics investigation of a bank heist or something once in a while, but murder sells, I guess.

Sad that they will never run out of murders to detail. Sickening.

A quick Google image search for those who don't know what she looks like reveals..... <me>:

Nothing.

I am destined to remain uncertain as to your assertation, Tifosi, until you provide some sort of photographic corroboration.
