Rich's true identity has been exposed at last?

BTW, what part of PotatoLand do you call home?

And I just though Rich was an adjective. Turns out it's his proper name. Oddly enough, people think the same thing about "Porridgehead".

In honor of Porridgehead's appearance in this thread, I present one of his better posts from the Car Lounge. (yes, apparently I've been e-stalking him)

Quote
[useless annonying post with no usable content] The wonderful thing about Chevette Diesels is that there is actually very little that can go wrong that can be discerned from what was wrong to begin with. From a design, usability, durability and comfort standpoint, the Chevette stood alone because nobody wanted to get close to the damn wretched things.

Like any good agricultural tool, they were simple machines with refinement being a quality that was not simply abandoned, but actively fought against. Favored for their sluglike performance, they were the preferred vehicle for people who had long given up on any quality of life. Frequently seen heaped to the gunwales with epherma, clothing and trash, they are favored by the trailer park crew. This solitary fact has finally dispelled the long held theory that trailer parks attract tornados. After extensive testing, the Baglady School of Atmospheric Studies in Topeka came to the determination that, in fact, it is actually Chevettes that attract tornados. Something to keep in mind while looking at one.

The Diesel Chevette is the maggotgulp in a plate of bad clams. It has all the charm of Ipecac and the desirablity of ringworm. It makes a good pit car, in that if you have a pit, a diesel Chevette is a good thing to throw in it. If you can find it in the stripper "Scooter" trim, you have not just hit the bottom of the barrel, you've started to furiously dig.

If you are looking at one in the near future, there are a few key items to look for:
1) Any other car with the possible exception of the Cosworth Vega or Triumph Stag.
2) Disinfectant. Make sure that some is handy. Tetanus is bad, but necrotizing bacteria is far worse.
3) A serious re-evaluation on what you consider imporant in life.

No matter the condition of a Chevette, they can be had for very little. That is, of course, if self-respect, adequacy, image and quality hold no value for you whatsoever. Otherwise, the price is far too much. A free Chevette in mint condition should be met with the same joy as receiving free herpes.

Yeah, I owned one.

Diesel Chevette are one of the most rare modern American cars actually. The Pontiac Acadian (only sold in Canada) Diesel would be the real collector of the bunch  :P

How do you know it's the same Porridgehead?  There could be mo- aw screw it.

If nothing else I know when to abandon a meritless argument.  Sad to say, if you stumble across the name Porridgehead, yeah, it's me. The single redeeming feature of this is that there are millions of s**t-for-brains out there.

I would hope so. There seem to be more cerebrafecal people than there were Chevettes. Or even Acadians.

I always thought of the Chevette as the American Trabant.

That's rather unfair to the Trabant.

Yeah, I guess it is...also checked E-Bay...no Chevettes listed.  I guess they've all disappeared, off to wherever junk passes on to...

Just bought a Matchbox 1956 Cadillac Eldorado diecast...pretty interesting, except for the sidepipes and the taillights painted on the blades of the fins instead of the jetpods below them.

Anybody else collect diecasts like me?

I have a few. My favorite is a Hot Wheels Deuce Coupe - very nice paint job - deep red with small flames behind the front fenders. Nice by Mattel standards, anyway. And no superfluous go-fast junk tacked on. Boyd-like, I guess I'd call it.

Reminds me of the story of how me and my buddies combined Hot Wheels and model rocket motors in a re-creation of Evil Knievel's Snake River Canyon jump. It was glorious... ;D

I like that car, too.  I have a bunch of cars, mostly hot rods, customs and exotics.  I have an Alfa B.A.T. 9, a Maserati MC 12 and a 1959 Corvette Stingray I used to answer my first autopuzzle.

I try to collect First Editions; a couple of years ago, things got a little out of hand when Mattel went crazy with a bunch of cartoonish cars...then they upped the ante to 100 First Editions for 2005.  I like to get at least a couple of each car, plus any wheel/color variations I'm aware of, so things got way out of the realm of common sense.  This year, there were only 38 First Editions, so common sense seems to have prevailed.

The cars aren't as easy to find in the stores these days...Wal-Mart is the only major store that carries a large selection right now.  Target and Meijer, the other major discount stores here, don't have nearly as many as they did just a year or so ago.

Finding Treasure Hunt cars is roughly akin to standing in line for a new PS3, you have to plan ahead and talk to the toy manager to know when a new shipment is coming in, and when it'll be dumped into the bin.  I have about half-a-dozen, and I've been collecting seriously for several years.

I started when my sons were small, it was a good way to teach them about cars.  Now, I say I'm collecting for my grandchildren.  And, with all the cars available, including a surprising number of classics, it's almost like going to Barrett-Jackson, and a whole lot cheaper!
