One thing I enjoy about driving through the middle of nowhere in Montana is being able to see 50 or 60 years of automotive history, just sitting outside somebody's old barn.

Some areas of the Blackfeet Reservation resemble junkyards more than ranches.

What kind of engine warrants a visit to Montana?

Of course, this question arises from a Boston middle-of-stinkin-everything person who views Montana as a whole lot of sky and not much else. Comparatively, of course, that is exactly what it is, and I mean that in a very good way.

I'm just nosy about anything that includes both engines and Montana. And Dents. Looks like you hit the trifecta.

Oof, I think I just sprained my last neuron on that.

In all seriousness the Missoula/Kalispell/Whitefish corridor seems to be very fertile ground for classic car sightings. Although most of it is of the American variety.

We also had a caravan of 14 original Shelby Cobras (12 289s and 2 427s) visit the park in September.

Oh I'm just getting it shipped to a warehouse on the border there since UPS, etc nail us Canadian's for "brokerage" fees on all items from the US. Usually equivalent to 50% of the value of the item.  >:(

As for the exact type of engine - its a secret until it arrives in my garage but its from my Seven project.

Interesting on many levels. I would expect that one could have a nice business warehousing UPS shipments at the border.

So it's a secret engine coming from the US? Not much we got down here that you didn't get up there. Price and availability are probably the issue.

Hmmm... I'm thinking Cummins Diesel... or maybe Triton V10.  That would be interesting in a Super 7. Of course, the whole double amputee part is a bit disconcerting, but if you're building a Super 7 for comfort then you're doing it wrong. Right?

Hey, it couldn't be much worse than a Hemi Isetta.

You can safely assume it has less than 10 cylinders but more than 1. I could certainly find one of these engines in Canada but this one is a rather nice price - and only 400 miles on a rebuild with some really nice extras tossed in. I still have to finalize details.

How was the show? I've never had a chance to see Les Claypool play in person -- I really ought to check out their tour dates and see if they're coming anywhere near here.

It was great.  I was disappointed they didn't play Wynona.  Other than that, a great venue, great opening act, Rasputina, and a first class good time.

argh - sodding shipping company wants $1100US to ship an engine to Canada. I could buy a parts car and drive it back for that  :P

Might be time to find a warehouse service on the Montana border.

what if you go back to check your own comment? Do you need to comment again? Could get into a nasty recursive loop.
