What do you see when you turn out the light?
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Paul Jaray

The time on my alarm clock...and the stand-by led on my tv...

Otto Puzzell

The military has certainly changed.... ;D

...not to mention the stand-by led on my satellite receiver and the display of the air-conditioning...but at least I'm not seeing dust! There is dust everywhere and when I say everywhere I mean it!

Otto Puzzell

Dust in the wind. All we are is dust in the wind...

Well, Toto, were not in Kansas anymore.

Speaking of dust: Abybody seen WALL-E? Saw it yesterday, and when it comes to animating, Pixar are the absolute greats. The first scenes in the film, where we see the Earth covered with dust and litter, totally abandoned save for one little robot and his insect pet... those are eerily haunting and look so realistic. Totally impressive!

Highly recommended. Especially if you like animated movies.

This isn't a puzzle.

It's not?

Since I'm basically forced into posting here re: the first post, I guess I'll ask for some help.

I'm currently writing an essay on the photographer Edward Steichen for university, I was wondering if anyone had any useful links that they might be able to share? I could use some extra information to try and pad this one out...

Ultra

Never heard of him.

Good luck!  :)

You mad crazy puzzle solver.  It is good to see you outside of the puzzle section.  Keep it up.  The board needs your posts throughout all the sections.

It's a pleasure...I'm thinking of a lot of project when I'll back...for example I would like to start a tread in wich someone can start to talk of one particular obscure make and all the happy crew can provide info from their sources...for example, I'm really interested in forgotten cars (like the Argonaut) and in this tread I can post what I know about, and anyone can add pics, links or whatever. In this way we can collect all the info available in the net and, most important, from our books or personal knowledge. We can chose a make each and move to the next when we decide the info are enough.

Ray B.

Great idea, Paul. You can count me in.
As for Edward Steichen, you can start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Steichen
Altough not the most famous of photographers, he played a very important role.
I remember a worlwide known book from his 1955 exhibition "The family of man". It made a great impression on me when I was a teenager.

Google Books is a great info resource. For instance, I typed in "Edward Steichen", and asked for results that included partial or complete previews of the books about him, or that feature some of his work. The link below includes what I found on Steichen.

Do me a favor and create these threads in the Vintage section.  When they are finished perhaps we can get the likes of you and other puzzlers to edit some of them together so that we can use them as Feature Articles.   :)

That could even get some of you puzzlers promoted to Feature Writer.  :grad:
