could be worse - I've know guys working up in the artic - you only get an hour or two of daylight if that in the winter. Then daylight all the time in the summer - apparently some folks go a little nuts.

I like daylight till 8:00 p.m.  Sunrise be damned.

If you make it out to Glacier in June, you'll get daylight until 11... and sunrise at 5 AM.

Funny how I was thinking this thread had had no posts in the longest time. Seems like its all Rich's fault. When he's away, interest wanes, apparently.

He must be involved in a weigthy clinical issue involving a homosexual polygamist or something..... ::)

Speaking of Hawaii...what do you guys think of NASCAR's Car Of Tomorrow?  My own personal feeling is that it's an absolutely hideous piece of junk that doesn't look like any production car on the market, has a front end that has a very disconcerting tendancy to cut down the rear tires of cars in front of it in tight traffic situations, is much more difficult to service on pit road, and has severe chassis  dynamic and aerodynamic issues.  Some of the bugs will be worked out eventually, but the idea of NASCAR making up it's own car is something I don't agree with.  NASCAR is supposed to be about American sedans, not in-house designed spec racers...it might be a little safer in some situations, but it just isn't true to the basic premise of the sport.

I thought it was very odd that Dale Jarrett's trunk was sheared off in an accident at Bristol...it was tethered , so it didn't actually leave the car, but that was the only time I could read what was painted on the trunk...sponsors will be very upset about the loss of exposure because that @@##!* wing is in the way...

And, for some reason, a lot of the teams were using thinner exhaust tubing, and several drivers had carbon monoxide poisoning  symptoms post-race...Brian Vickers burned his backside when his broke midrace.

I don't mind Toyota coming into NASCAR, but I do have a problem with so many teams desperately trying to find a spot in an already crowded field...and adding starting positions, which I seriously doubt NASCAR will do, isn't feasible.  And the Chase For The Cup should have been 12 drivers all along...

I think NASCAR is a little too big for it's own good...there's some overkill in there somewhere.  TV ratings are down, and not all tracks are selling out any more...the season is too long, and so are some of the races...the COT sucks...other than that, it isn't too bad.

They have been doing that for quite some time now...I think they started that when the Tbird left the track.

Since when?

Well, the Camry is the only car in the series built in the 'States...and it's true that NASCAR started monkeying around with car design when they allowed the Taurus to compete, but that was out of necessity...the B pillar had to be moved back from its' original position to allow the driver to get into the car.  Then the Intrepid followed...and all three cars ended up with the same roofline...but now; well, maybe it's a logical progression...but it seems contrary to the basic premise of the sport.  The Car Of Tomorrow just ain't a REAL CAR...it doesn't even have any real ties to one...
