One of my all-time favorite authors, Kurt Vonnegut, has died.  In light of the hoopla surrounding, say, Anna Nicole Smith's death, it fascinates me how we, as a culture, ignore or at least discount, those of us who actually make a contribution to said culture.  So it goes...

I haven't read any Vonnegut in a while.  Perhaps I shall pick up one of his books.

Melancholic, cryptic, caustic, witty, imaginative, insightful, hopeful, brilliant....pick any of his tomes and you will find these characteristics.....

Might sound stupid, but I'm truly mourning his loss...was as good of a speaker as a writer...

ONE of the reasons I hang out here is to bask in the glow of your insight. In my estimation, it is even MORE rewarding that pictures of never before seen one-offs created by parapalegic high school students in a barn out past the town limits using only common hand tools.
