New Guy
« on: August 25, 2017, 04:46:36 PM »
Evening all.    My names Kris 36 from Scotland. I've been viewing the site on and off for a while doubting my capacity to really compete with anyones expertise. After all a Rodley round here is probably considered to be Ford Escort common. However having just spotted a rookie puzzle I can identify I just had to give it a go.

Welcome, and thank you for hanging around and having a go. Nobody on this site would admit it's easy, but it's great fun using your personal knowledge and combining that with information in books and on the internet, to solve what seems a daunting puzzle. Autopuzzles is like nothing else on the net - it's a mine of information about the most obscure cars in the world.

I thought I knew it all when I joined. Some of the guys on here make me look like a simpleton. That's why we have the grading system, to give newcomers a chance - once you've been here a while, you'll get addicted. The learning curve will enable you to find some fantastic internet sites about all manner of cars .

Good luck.

Welcome Kris!
There's little to add to what nicanary already wrote. This place is highly addictive and when I joined, I thougt I knew them all too...but here you'll find several real expert in many fields.

BTW, with Rodley, you mean te little 750 built by Rodley Automobile Company Ltd in Leeds, Yorkshire in the mid 50s or the steel bodied kit cars by Rodley Motors from Bradford in the 90s?  ;D

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Clearly a place for people to indulge their curiosity without much worry if its a microcar or supercar. A sort of classless auto archaology.
I had a question about the blackholes vehicles.  Is it okay to comment on them or are they forever out of bounds.

I was thinking of the Leeds microcar. I have something of a passion for them. A sort of proto Imp 7 years early. I'd love to see one, but though one supposedly survived to the 80s I doubt that will ever happen. I got out the pencils to draw one a little while back.

I didn't know about a 90s Rodley. I'll have to google that one.

As a Rookie you're very welcome to post any questions or comments at any time on any thread. By all means pass comment on something in the Black Hole - they're there because nobody could solve the puzzle and even a passing comment could help others to work out the answer. It's only the Experts and Pros who have boundaries as regards threads.  Possibly the site is not as well laid-out as it could be if it's not clear about who can post where. Sorry about that.

I like your drawing Skut; I've resized it to make it a bit easier to see.
Here's the Rodley puzzle when it first appeared here:

Once you become an Expert you'll be able to post your own puzzles but we might enable Rookies to post puzzles at some time in the future if the members think that's a better idea..
