My Favoritest Christmas Song
« on: December 23, 2011, 06:40:51 AM »
Generally by this time of year, we are so SICK of hearing Christmas music 24 hours a day since November 1, we just want the season to be over so we can back to hearing KC & The Sunshine Band and Culture Club again!   ;D

But here's a song that doesn't get much air time that is really quite delightful. It's for kids by a kid (the singer is only 10 years old) and it will put a smile on your face no matter how grumpy you may be feeling. In fact, if you listen to it, I will bet a farthing you will find yourself dancing around the house with a big grin on your face.  I know I always do.

Enjoy!   :joker:

Very nice and definitely better than the usual at-least-once-an-hour-in-the radio-Wham-Last-Christmas-spam, but I prefer the original hippo performance:

Sehr gute, mein Herr!   ;D

Not to hijack my own thread, but what was the name of the band that sang that version of Wimoweh? No using Google here. :shakehead:

And for extra credit, how many OTHER top 40 hits did the group have in their career?

I just remembered Bert Kaempfert's version from childhood days and a 1980's version, so I had to look it up in Wikipedia (not Google  :D ).
But I won't spoil the puzzle fun for our fellow puzzlers.

I think the Tokens' version was the most popular. I think they had a few other relative good sellers , but none as well-known as this. Nevertheless, it's one song that I just can't get into.

As to favorite Christmas songs, this one's my favorite. Ol' Nat crooning Melvin Howard Tormé's classic.

Wasn't it Karl Denver had a hit with it in the UK?

Think my No. 1 choice must be Eartha Kitt singing "Santa Baby".  Apart from Bing Crosby, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra everything else is bubblegum.

Brenda Lee deserves an honourable mention for "Rocking' around the Christmas Tree" though, if only for the immortal line "We'll eat some f***ing pie" (actually I think she sings "pumpkin pie" but it sounds for all the world like something else...!)

My favorite is "Auld Lang Syne", traditionally sung on New Year's Eve.  It means the holiday season is finally over.  :P
