Something I do on my sites that I'd suggest to you, Ultra & Karn is to create 'test' usernames. For example, create an account as a normal user entitled UltraTestAccount. This way, you can fiddle with settings of the site & 'test' things when someone has a problem AND no one will accuse you of trying to have two online identities.
Karma, unless the premissions are different for this site, can usually only be added by admins, mods & members with a certain number of posts... I don't remember the default for the software, though.
FWIW, I'd disable the Karma feature. It leads to too much drama & BS that detract from your forum.
Another suggestion, while I'm at it, make sure you have back-up admins so that if anything happens to you, the site can continue until you get your problems worked out... Even if you're only away from the computer for a week, that can be disasterous, to say nothing if you were to pull a Justin...
Okay... last suggestion... I'd create a username like "Administrator" & share the password with your admins. That way, if they ever DO have to do some real moderating, they're protected from personal attacks by the facelessness of the "Administrator" username.
