I've been everywhere, man......well, not quite.
« on: June 08, 2006, 04:31:14 AM »
Earlier in my life, I used to travel extensively on business, and with my youngin's (who are out discovering the world on their own terms now).

I came across this neat utility that lets you put together a map that shows where you've been in the good 'ole USA.

If I ever get out of my current hermit funk, where should I go next?

Where have you been in this grand old country of ours?

Show us!

Globally, I've only been to a smattering of places (3 countries outside the US, and all of them predominantly English-speaking), latent xenophobia, perhaps? I don't think so.

In Canada, I've been Alberta, BC, and Ontario. Other than that, a horrific honeymoon in the Bahamas with Mrs. Utz the First, and some business jaunts to Joly Old. When there is so much to see yet to see in Canada and my ancestral roots in the EU, I could spend the rest of my life exploring those places alone. I'd really love to spend more time in the Canadian Rockies, perhaps the most beautiful place on God's green earth.

Build yours here.

Here's mine, although there are some distortions. For instance, I have been to Hong Kong, but that is not an option, so I clicked on China, which adds virtually the entire asian sub-continent for a tiny little island that is about .00001% of the Chinese land mass.  But what the heck?  Makes me look like Marco Polo!

FEAR my non-contiguous travels. Hit a bunch of these on the archetypal family trip out west as a child. Looking at the map kinda makes you wonder how I missed Idaho.

My world map would look like US + Canada + New Zealand. A bit boring I fear.

I'm late to the party here, but I thought I'd give this a try. My international travel is sort of lacking so far, but I've got most of the US covered, with a few holes in the south and northeast. In about a month, I can add Cali to the list.

Mine so far, I'll add Wisconsin to the list in a couple of weeks. Now to see if I can get the world one to work too.....

This world map makes me look pretty well travelled, ah the single life. Now a trip across town seems like an expedition...........

Being not the most enthusiastic traveller I visited only continental European countries so far:
(most of them on a four week train trip through Europe in 1990)

. . . I think that's it so far for the USA. I'll have to look at the rest of the world later. Nice find - thank you!
