New Kid On The Block...
« on: September 22, 2017, 04:12:10 PM »
Hey guys, My name is Chance. But you will know me as ChanceHuncha.I came across this site looking for cars for something and i’m absolutely in love with it. It may come as a surprise to you that im only 14, but trust me, i know ALOT more than you would expect. Ive fallen in love with cars since I was little, I currently collect Hot Wheels cars and have gotten a large rep for being ‘that one kid whos basement is literally filled with Hot Wheels.’ But thats just the start, After I discovered ‘racing games’ at the age of 11 I had an idea that I could make my own racing game. I started to compile jpeg photos in a USB Drive of cars I would put in a game. Cars like Pagani, Mosler, Renaultsport, etc. but I just couldnt stop adding cars, there were so many cars in the world. I still havent stopped, 3 years after, i turned it into an encyclopedia rather than a video game prep. My list is currently at around 14,500 individual cars, and about 1,600 different brands from all around the world. I use this place as a place where I can add more cars to my encyclopedia and It’s really nice because now I can find my own cars from my own internet hunting skills. I love this place and I would love to get engaged with this site. See ya around! - Chance

Welcome Chance. You may well be the youngest member of this site.

Your story will be a familiar one to just about everyone on here - I had the good fortune to meet 3 other members recntly at the Goodwood Revival, and it appeared that we had all been struck by our addiction at an early age. We were all the kid at school who was "car mad".

I'm really pleased that you like the site. If you think of anything that you feel will enhance the experience please feel free to comment. Stick around and enjoy yourself.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Ciao Chance,

I thought I was reading my story! I started in school, filing a list of the coolest car on a sheet of paper (BMW 850, Ferrari Testarossa, and so on...) but then I realised it was not enough...and now I have a database with 20200 makers and 115000 models! Autopuzzles is the right place for you!

Same as everyone else, I'm very glad to see new Autopuzzlers participating in this great game, and especially someone as young as you! At your age I also collected model cars (Bburago was my make of choice, though I could not buy as many as I would have wished because of their steep price) and bought lots of magazines and books about sports cars. After the advent of the internet, I tried to start a personal database of my own as well, but the sheer enormity of the task eventually made me give up (and discovering this site confirmed to me the fact that there are so many rare and little-known cars out there, that I on my own I could never have hoped to get close to anything resembling a comprehensive list!). Nowadays I just store the pictures I take myself at car shows and museums, and I trust the internet and particularly treasure-trove sites like this one to provide me with images and information about all the many exotic cars that have existed thoughout history.
