Changing conditions
« on: November 26, 2010, 03:51:43 PM »
Here in the south of France you can normally be sure of agreeable weather conditions.
However last week everything has been a bit changeable to say the least.
At the beginning of last week we had dry and clear weather with beautiful sunsets (see pic 1)

However late last week conditions changed and we had torrential rain and flooding.
It was a surprise to wake up and see a spectacular sky at sunrise (see pic 2)

Yes that's sunrise! not sunset - a forewarning of bad weather on the way.
You know what they say "red sky in the morning......"

Anyway, I'm sure many of you also experience conditions like this but I thought it worth a small post.

It's quite predictable here. Not sure if that's a good thing....

Here it's the exception rather than the rule.
However you can never tell - tonight it's minus 3 degrees.

Very nice photos, though as you live in the South of France you are not allowed to complain about the weather. Ever.

As I recall that's where they say that if you can see the hills then it's about to rain - and if you can't then it is raining. 8)

I have to say I never complain about the weather here for the simple reason it changes quickly - so if it rains like a monsoon or snows (it was snowing here today) you can rest assured that the sun will soon return.

Another couple of photos taken last May - the first from the same perspective as my first post's red sky in the morning and the second on the road just outside the village.

I had the pleasure of meeting Malcolm and being a guest at his home last September. A more pleasant fellow you are not ever likely to meet!   ;D

He lives in an absolutely delightful town that looks like the Roman centurions just broke camp a few days ago. We shared a wonderful meal outdoors under a full moon in the town square that night. Below is a photo I took from his porch in the morning:

You betcha!  There is an historic GP every two years in Monaco, which is about an hour up the road from his village. I'm planning to attend the next one in 2012. It's not too early to start planning a get together!

Following a spectacular sunset here on 20 December (see below), the weather has been appalling - torrential rain, dark grey skies - very northern European! Not cold - 14 degress - but just miserable. Sadly it all but destroyed the Christmas celebrations in the old village and the traditional market saw few visitors.
