Astom Martin sold
« on: March 09, 2007, 01:48:13 AM »
No, not the Louis Vuitton scam, but it has been announced on the BBC this morning that the marque has been sold to a consortium who are involved in the world of Formula 1. Further details are expected before the weekend but at the moment that is all that is being said.

Is it Prodrive, then?

It is confirmed that Pro Drive have bought Aston and that they have already announced an entry for Formula 1 for 2008.

Off the net this morning

Ford closes in on Aston Martin sale
 08 Mar 2007
Ford is reportedly close to selling Aston Martin after identifying the consortium headed by motor racing company Pro Drive as its preferred bidder. Ford values the luxury marque at up to £500m and it is understood the British-based consortium is close to matching the US carmaker’s valuation. Pro Drive is set to become Formula 1’s 12th racing team next season and already runs Aston Martin’s sports car racing programme, which may have swayed Ford’s decision.

I hope Aston Martin's next essay into Grand Prix racing does better than their last one which was overtaken by the rear-engined developments before it got to the races.
