Suspected Drunken Driver Taunts Police

This takes balls. :hah:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A man who said he was drunk and who police said taunted them by repeatedly calling 911 faces a number of charges, police said after releasing the recording.

Alexander Craig, 21, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular eluding, driving under the influence and resisting arrest after making about 10 calls Thursday evening.

"I'm hammered ... come get me," the caller told police when he called 911.

Police frantically tried to locate the man over several hours as he continued to call, dropping clues about where he was.

"What is your name?" a dispatcher asks.

"I don't know," replied the caller. "I'm too hammered right now, man."

About 20 officers were involved in the search for the man, but couldn't find him.

The man called back at one point and said, "I'm drunk and hammered and giving you guys clues and you still haven't found me."

At another point, the 911 tape shows more taunting from the caller.

"I'm drunk and driving at the same time heading down south Academy. I called earlier and I still ain't got nothing from you fools," he said.

About two hours after the calls started, police said Craig pulled up in front of squad cars and quickly drove off, running red lights, driving down the wrong side of the street and jumping medians.

Police were finally able to catch him when his car broke down. Even then, police said he was so uncooperative that they had to use a stun gun on him.

"For somebody to call us -- that's a first in 20 years I'm aware of," said police spokesman Rafael Cintron.

Makes you wonder...would they have ever caught him, if he just gave up and went home!
