You know you want to build an all-wheel-drive hot rod.

You know you need this:

Skyline GT-R AWD transmission

You can get gearsets that will handle 1000+ HP. It's at least 7 inches shorter than a freight train and weighs several pounds less. You can use spare sewer pipe to fab your new center tunnel. Where else you gonna get a smooth-shifting 5 speed manual + AWD transfer case with massive aftermarket support? Some truck? Hardly sporting.

You know you need this. You cagers wouldn't understand, but when you lay your crotch rocket down at 120 MPH, you need sparkly bits than can be seen from space. Helps the EMTs find where to hose off the asphalt.

So apparently I have a thing for interesting, bargain mechanical bits suited for yet-to-be-defined project cars. You, however, have a thing for this:

Audi S4 V8 & 6-speed transmission

Eight cylinders and six speeds seldom make for a boring car.

I'd buy that Audi V8 + tranny, but hanging the entire engine forward of the front axle is something only a crazed Audi-phile (or subaru fan) would do. Instead, a more technically sound approach would be to set the engine further back and use a prop shaft to send power forward to.......OOH! SHINY THING!

Ok so as far as counter examples there are a few Mercs and such with V8s and 6spd slushboxes.

Those Audi motors while being hopelessly placed in a fwd car make a nice layout for a mid engined machine. Say take this Puma and rip out the VW engine thing and toss in that Audi motor. Now that I've done all the hard design work for you all you need to do is add a pile of cash and hours of skilled fabrication, tuning, etc. Simple!

As is I'm afraid no sale - now if it been converted to a pickup truck with a bed fabricated from angle iron then it would be a different story.

I prefer a classy false convertible top, WITH OPERA LIGHTS, to a stick-on sunroof.

I also like to inherit unfinished project kit cars built on salvage title donors, like so:

here is an odd one. Studebaker Champion on a 4x4 Dodge D50 chassis, engine and dash! You can see the front wheel doesn't quite line up right. The Dash looks out of place. There was a Austin A40 with Dodge Colt (rwd kind) drivetrain and dash for sale recently - I wonder if they shared a common builder.
