The perfect marriage of utility and crusin' style. Maybe you can tell me how a love so right can turn out to be so wrong?

The seller says:

Hi.  This started out as a 97 Plymouth Grand Voyager.  What it is now  is kinda hard to explain :)  Hopefully pictures speak for themselves.  No, I didn't do any of the work and don't know who or what was done, again, hopefully pictures are adequate.  3.0 V6, auto, runs decent, shifts fine, puffs some smoke at start up, rides like a buckboard. switch on dash to raise and lower rear suspension.  Appears to have windshield frame cut down.  No windshield, no wipers, no rear seats, no cupholders, no warranty and no, I wouldn't recommend driving it home :) Tires rub. Clean AZ title. $100 nonrefundable deposit.  If you get here and it wasn't as described then you don't have to complete purchase.  AZ residents will have to pay 6.1 % sales tax.  This is a project!!  Please don't expect more than what you see, although again, it does run and drive.   Someone put a tremendous amount of effort in this cruiser.  Let your imagination take it to the next level!   Thank you for looking!!   Brian

Back in school we were taught this simple "rule of thumb" equation for determining chassis stiffness. It went something like:

I have no idea what exactly you might do with this...maybe factory five GTM? Regardless, someone needs to buy this:

This is sweet.

Rich, you too broke to buy this?  You could put it under your MG.   :drive:

I just bought a set of GTX powercoated rims with some rather nice tires attached. Surely that deserves partial credit.  :P

PARTIAL CREDIT AWARDED! You've opened up a lead in the "someone else buy this" competition! Let's take a look at the scores:

Arthur Dent: 27 points
Everyone Else: 0.    ;D

C'mon, everyone else! Surely there's something you don't need and can't justify buying somewhere in this thread. Like, for instance:

So many possibilities:

1) Chrome it, put it in the living room... instant post-industrial objet d'art

2) Project car: remove upper links, convert to true swing-axle design for optimal handling

Cayenne rear suspension assembly

For $3K you can't afford NOT to buy it!

On second thought, I don't need an Objet D'art for the living room. What I need is....

Got one of them already. It's a bit sissified (read:stock), compared to that, and it's not alcohol fueled, but it sure is loud and bumpy.

I'd by that M3, but it's not quite excessive enough.

This, on the other hand:

WHY NOT, is all I can say.

Well, an M3 is just an M3. But anybody that's running a Star or a Lea-Francis or a D-type replica... well, that's another league altogether. The M3 is a terrific car, but some of us are running history... and you can't compete with that.  In fact, I don't want to compete, I'd much rather go for a drive and sit agog as I listened to the sounds of a straight 6 Jag at full chat. Or a Duhc.

If somebody would want a turn behind the wheel of a humble M3, I would be more than honored.

Good company we have here. Remarkable, in fact.

Likewise, I think I'd prefer a turn behind the wheel of an M3 than one of the more historics. I'd be too afraid of stuffing them into a corner to really enjoy it them way they were meant to be driven.

The most personally tempting of all the finds thus far was a Bizzarrini hill climb car from a while back. It had chevy small block mechanicals and maybe 6 additional moving parts. I'd looked like it was actually serviceable, and of no great historic import, so it could have been driven with comparative abandon. The bidding soared beyond my indulgence limit all too quickly, though.

Who's got some free time?

Jensen Interceptor! Not an FF, but it's got a 440.

Nothing like a little (or big) Detroit iron under the hood of lightweight (or heavy) European body. Just needs a little (or a lot) of TLC. And parts are as close as your nearest neighborhood junkyard that happens to have another interceptor in it that hasn't been picked clean of the part (or parts) you need!

I love Jensen Interceptors. Almost bought a MkII years and years ago. Gone by the time I had a garage and money together. Went with a much more sensable Triumph Spitfire instead. Interceptors are fantastic rusters and cost a fortune to restore. Combine that with relatively low values when done its probably a best bet to buy one that is done up already. One day I might still. Of course knowing me I'll buy the basketcase.

Who needs a hovercraft? Cheap too!

Needs more 'hover' and less 'craft', if you ask me.
