Seen any good plates lately?
« on: February 12, 2009, 02:21:44 AM »
On the way to work, Monday, February 2 (Ground Hog Day ... 6 more weeks of winter coming), I noticed this plate on a Subaru Outback wagon:
WHAT V 8

Every morning on the way to work, I used to see a Pontiac Grand Am with the plate "BMW AT 40" ... but I haven't seen it for a while....

What've you seen recently?

At work, I see almost every day a yellow Hummer with a plate that reads:

FORSALE

Unfortunately, we don't have such possibilities of personalizing the licence plates here :(
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Heh ... I guy I know in the Monte Carlo Owners Association used to have a '79 MC ... license plates read "FERSALE" :).

I did a double take when I saw this one early one morning, the week of February 12:
GET IT UP

It was on a black HHR, driven by an older gentleman.....

And, the same day, I saw this one:
I FOR N I
(black HUMMER)

We have limited scope for that sort of thing but locallu some still had fun:
a local dentist had J PA1N (not really a comment on her work, as her name was Mrs J Paine!)
Ogle design made a few cars in the 1960s and got 60 GLE and 70 GLE which they regrouped to become 6 OGLE and 7 OGLE
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

I like this one ... wonder how many times she had to explain it was her name ... and not a comment on her work!

I saw this in England some years ago, and thought, "hey, that one's lucky if it can get to 70 mph".

Actually it was 660 GLE (spaced as 66 OGLE) as it was a 1966 Scimitar!

Yes, there was that as well - my examples were on Ogle cars

660 GLE was on the Triplex Special (Scimitar Coupe-based estate car version) built to show off Triplex glass.  It was subsequently driven for some time by Prince Philip, and seems to have started a Royal love affair with Scimitars, with Princess Anne owning several!

I saw a minivan a while back with a plate that said "NO TAG".

I assume the theory is that when your speed camera or parking ticket gets processed, they'll toss it out because it says "no tag" in the license plate field. I suspect it doesn't work, but can't blame a body for trying.

LOL!
