polish cars experts!
« on: October 13, 2012, 06:06:17 PM »
dear friends,
I'm a die cast collector of Fiat models and I'm searching every model which derives from the italian factory (engines and so on) particulary from Poland.
Someone can help me?

thank you Del for your answer!

I'm searching all the cars made in Poland that used in tha past engines and parts from Fiat production; for example I know that Fso 125, 126, 127 used Fiat engines but for some vehicles from Tarpan and Nysa was the same? I've read in a couple of polish forums (with google translator  :) this notice but I'm not sure.
This is the little help I need!

ciao
Stefano

So I'm not the only one...

I think you should focus on 125p and 126p (of course) and also on FSO Polonez, that was based on Fiat 1500 platform (same as the 125) and at the beginning had Fiat 115 engine (later Citroen).
Look for the nice Estetyka period models. Something has been done more recently by Welly, but in slightly larger scale than 1:43.

I don't think Tarpan and Nysa are Fiat based, however.

And if you go back to pre-war time, there are also the interesting army vehicles made by PZInz: Fiat 508 Lazik and Fiat 518 Mazur. But you can find models only in 1:35, 1:72 or 1:200 for role-games.

Also the (almost) well-known WZ.34 armoured vehicle used Fiat Balilla engine, at least in the 2 latest series (not the first one with tracks, that was based on Citroen mechanics).

Nysa and Żuk had nothing in common with Fiat. They were mostly based on FSO Warszawa. Tarpan is the only one that had any connection:
1. There were prototype versions with engines from FSO 1300/1500 (Fiat 125p).
2. In the late 70s there were prototypes made by Fiat of a replacement for Tarpan that was planned for production in a joint-venture between fiat and FSC (Tarpan producer). At least one running prototype was made and 5 or 6 versions were designed (van, people carrier, pick-up, extended cabin etc.). I am not aware of any models of those cars on sale. There is a company that makes models of rare Polish cars on-demand, but those are rather expensive, since it's hand-made in very small series (1:87 and 1:43 models.

In general, IXO makes a lot of Polish (and other soviet bloc) 1:43 models, there's also a collection called "Kultowe Auta PRL-u" sold in newsstores in Poland.

Some IXO models can be found here for example: http://dobrodziecka.pl/sklep/modele-samochoda-w/samochody-metalowe/auta-z-prl-nrd-zsrr/cat_94.html

The KAP collection examples here: http://allegro.pl/listing.php/search?sg=0&string=kultowe+auta+prl-u

It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Here's site of the guy that makes them: https://sites.google.com/site/modeletrackera/ Below some of his works and models from other makers he offers.

Also here's a guy that converts the 1:87 KAP collection cars to other versions and models: http://modele.strefa.pl/prl.html
