From this year's Concorso Italiano (slide show)
« on: October 02, 2008, 11:36:58 PM »
http://www.concorso.com/

This just hit  my in box.  Page down to bottom left and hit the slide show button.

A few things:  Interesting that this type of presentation was shown so soon after the event.  In fact, it's new.  The other thing, which may be pressing the need to reinforce the Concorso with a mass email, is that not too many clubs were happy with the location at the Marina.  I bailed out when I found it was going to be hosted there.  To me, the Marina is where you go for club and NASA autocrosses, and not a venue for a world class auto show.  And afterall, how many 348 Ferrari's do you need to see to get the point that this is a very pretty car?

I know for sure that the Alfa club is looking to split off from Concorso and start their own.  This outcome I feel is a bad thing in that with more specialized events, more time will be needed to attend events and more space will be taken (a rare thing that on the peninsula).   As it is now, the madness that is Monterey the weekend starts on Wed and goes to Sun.  Back in the day there were only two events, the race and concours d'elegance.  The race was around 17 mile drive and the show was at Pebble.  With safety concerns the race was rightly moved to Laguna Seca, however the proliferation of high end shows simply means that fewer people will go to each event and the distance travelled to see individual events will mean more traffic, and ultimately, less time to hang out and enjoy why this weekend is such an appealing event in the first place.
