Topic: Dangerous intersections

To me, the ironic part of this sidebar from our local paper is that I've driven the intersections MANY times ... and never once felt unsafe at them.  Maybe because I'm used to them ... and I know how drivers are in those areas, so I am extra cautious....?

Yep - the 10 Mile Road / Main Street Woodward Avenue / i-696 intersection.

Eastbound 696 dumps two lanes of traffic, traveling at freeway speeds, onto a surface street clogged with rush hour traffic. People jockeying for position in the two left lanes traveling over 50 MPH to make a turn onto northbound Woodward. If you miss the Woodward lanes, you have to settle for Main going North. If you miss Main, you're dumped back onto the Freeway - unless you can careen two lanes to the right and stay on 10 Mile, go another mile East, turn around, and try again.

Tempers flair, and many a fender is bent!

Ah, yes ... I've "navigated" (term used loosely, in this case) that interchange a time or 2 myself, Otto.  Not pretty by any stretch of the imagination ... unless you absolutely LOVE traffic.... he he.
