In this entry, the Beach Boys' classic performance anxiety car song, written by Brian Wilson and "Hot Rod Rog" Roger Christian. Wilson was heavy into his "Phil Spector is God" phase when he produced this one. It's been suggested he wrote the song with Ronny Bennett (later Spector) as the intended vocalist, and she would indeed record the song some year later, to Brian's apparent delight. Also included are takes on the song by Keith Moon, Zed, Ronnie Spector and others.

I've purposely excluded BJ Thomas' and Bryan Ferry's version, as they felt compelled to change the lyrics to eliminate the references to cars and drag racing. The intro on Ferry's version is a little too close the the Bay City Rollers' take. I also left out the Everly Brother's version, as it includes the fake Mike Love version of the Beach Boys. Mike Love is scum.
