What it is: A thorough history of the Bonneville Salt Flats, as told by "Landspeed" Louise Ann Noeth
Who should read it: Everyone. This is the best automotive-related book I've read in the past few years. I read a decent number of books, a majority of which are automotive related, so that's saying something
What you get: A compelling narrative made of good prose and great anecdotes mixed with some truly exceptional photography. The only misstep is minor, in the last chapter, where apparently the perceived need to be up to date results in a few disjointed paragraphs about the last half dozen speed weeks.
In-depth Analysis: Man's pursuit of speed has taken many forms over the past few centuries, but no place on earth is as uniquely connected to that pursuit as the barren, unforgiven sea of......OOOOH! Over There! Shiny Thing!!
