AutoPuzzles Theater 10

Some new flicks!

First, let's warm things up with two versions of Popeye the Sailor trying to teach his girl how to drive - 1940's Wimmin Hadn't Oughta Drive, followed by the 1955 short, Car-azy Drivers.

Now, on to the real automobiles! Today's theme is 'orphans'.  First up, an ugly, whiny lad complains his way across the USA in an Edsel.

Next, an advertisement that has the look of an 80's music video, for a long-gone brand.

...and another piece of Studebaker history, wherein a Studebaker Avanti hits 170 MPH plus, with Andy Granatelli's help.

And a longer, more detailed look at the Avanti, through the eyes of Studebaker's marketing team. (if the boo-bee-doo-bee get to be too much, you can turn off your speakers.  :D

Slightly off topic, though Studebaker and Packard did coexist briefly, here is the The Telegraph's look at the 42 litre V12 Packard special Bentley

Say, why not treat yourself to something from the refreshment center? We'll have some more video goodies for you when you return.

Back in the realm of normal cars, Packard touts the features of its new 1953 line of automobiles in full-blown 'documentary' called The Watchdogs, starring war and horror movie stalwart Addison Richards.

Part One:

Part Two, which segues into The Safe Road Ahead. Love them torsion bars!

...which segues into a series of black-and-white factory films and commercials

Back in Detroit, by way of Kenosha, AMC tells its dealers how to exploit its 1963 Motor Trend Car of the Year award.

Something a little different here- 'professional speed driver' Craig Breedlove tries to stump the panel on What's My Line

And now, 4 years later. Ride along as Breedlove and his young wife set a 77 speed record in the new AMX!

That's it for this week. See you next time, folks!

All,

The combined thread was taking too long to load. I've split these into installments.
