African coachbuilders
« on: March 20, 2013, 07:32:10 AM »
The question came up when compiling my "Encyclopaedia of Italian Coachbuilders", because I see that I've no names at all of coachbuilders who could have been working in former-Italian lands in Africa (Lybia 1911-1947, Somaliland 1889-1941, Ethiopia 1936-1941).

But, more generally, I wonder if there have been - and I think so, but have no info - coachbuilders in African countries.

Does anybody know?   ???

Given that there have been races in Eritrea on pretty various cars, I would suggest at least some of them could have been locally built, including bodies. Just a supposition so far, but I'm inclined to think it may be true.
