A great article Dan - well done. Having driven the cars, they are all you say about them at it was the first car I ever drove (1969) where I got wheelspin in 3rd! When Goodwood reopened in 1998 no greater respect could have been given in that a GT40 was used as the official pace car

We, as a site, are lucky to have such a great membership.  Thanks Dan for another world class contribution.

Thanks for the kind words...I'm just glad to have a place to write.  I tried to build a model of the GT 40 when I was a kid...I think it was by IMC or MPC...anyway, it was pretty advanced for a 12 year old kid, and I broke one of the rear suspension pieces trying to get it off the sprue, and it ruined the whole kit.  The GT 40 and the Porsche 917 are my 2 favorite sports/endurance cars of all-time.

Since it looks like the Indy 500 is gonna be a washout today, 80% chance of rain,  I'll probably trot out my tape of Le Mans...

Coincidentally, I stumbled across this super-easy GT40 kit when looking for something else, a while back.

Take heart, Tifosi. If the Indy forecaster's 80% chance of rain is anything like Monaco's, we're in for blue skies and sun! Cuase, that's what they had..........

I hope so...it looks clear from the activity and lack of umbrellas during the prerace shows...

The miracles of the modern age.  I can get wheelspin going into 4th in my GTO.  :o
