When I joined Autopuzzles in March 2010, I asked if anyone recognised the pedal car in my avatar. My father bought it secondhand in the late 1950s. I've never been able to find out who made it, and I've never seen another one like it - until today, that is!
It turns out to be a Leeway, made by Patterson Edwards (Leeway Toys) of Lewisham, South East London, and the front of it is intended to look like the radiator grille of a pre-war Triumph Dolomite.
It was apparently introduced in 1939, but production was stopped by WW2. I don't know if it was produced after the war, but as the Dolomite was an obsolete model by then, it's quite likely that it wasn't.
