I found this (very) old photo the other day. It was taken circa 1976, hence the long hair and Mexican moustaches of the era. It's of no use whatsoever in providing AP members with an idea of my appearance, but for some reason I find it fascinating - I suppose it's just to satisfy myself that I post it here.
I'm the guy in mufti - second from the left at the back, scorer for Eaton CC in the Norfolk League. The guy to my right ( extreme left) was my best friend through primary school, grammar school and onwards, which is how I ended up scoring for the team. He opened the batting for Norfolk Schoolboys and went on to become a well-known and feared fast bowler. (Well known in Norfolk junior club cricket.....)
I'm pretty sure the photo was taken at Aldborough, a small village in North Norfolk, and the pitch was the village green, surrounded on all sides by roads and housing. The village pub ran alongside one side of the green, and anyone fielding at deep mid-wicket could just have the time to nip in, get a pint pulled, and return to his position before the next over started. Happy days.
